I said it in the game thread but these guys really deserve some props. The # of players on this roster who will not only make the team but have a real impact is amazing to me. I commend Whiz and Graves for trusting the scouts and actually picking or signing these kids via UDFA.

1. DRC
2. Toler
3. Hightower
4. Patrick
5. Stephen Williams

I would venture a guess that if you scanned other NFL rosters it would be damn hard to fing 5 players with that skill level from small schools that would match that list right there. Especially when you consider the schools that guys like the first 4 came from.

I would add Sendlein to the list. Not from a small school but was not drafted.

Outstanding post!

Not only fantastic small school finds but as others have posted great late round picks as well. I predict we will be adding A. Roberts to this list sooner that later.

Yeah, they late round UDFA production the team gets is really impressive(not just small schools). Hopefully they'll start trading their 3rd rounders for additional 4th-7th rounders come draft time.

Just thinking about it... even though he came from a big time program. How about UDFA Max Hall? The kid appears to have that "IT" factor!!! Kudo to whoever convinced Wiz on this.

Disagree.

S Williams and Max Komar are both outperforming him at WR. He can't catch reliably nor impressive on punt returns when he does not drop them. IMO A. Roberts is at real risk for making the 53.

Agreed. He certainly hasn't earned a spot.

I would dare to go even further to say they are outplaying Doucet who has been sitting on the sidelines injured more than actually being on the field.

Shane, you are so spot on with this.

The last 2-3 years have been so much better in drafts and UDFAs.

If anyone wants to puke - look at the Cards draft history beyond 3 years ago. With the exception of 2004 (best draft ever) it is pretty pathetic.

Don't forget Breaston

I'd include him also because IIRC he wasn't drafted for WR but for punt returner even though he came from a big school

FO's our loathe to cut higher draft picks. Factor in that Andre doesn't have an attitude problem and had very good hands in college. Also add in that he is getting open a lot. Rashod Johnson stunk on ice last year and wasn't cut. Now he is over his rookie jitters and playing better but still not lighting it up and I bet he doesn't get cut.

WR's typically don't come out of the gate on fire, we are spoiled by Fitz, Q, and now Williams.

I like Komar but he has only played against scrubs. He will likely make it through the waiver wired, Andre won't.

Completely agree with you here Shane. The scouting department lede by Steve Keim deserves immense praise for what they've done and it would not be going overboard if we said that they have played an incredibly important role in turning the fortunes of the Cardinals for the better. Ken Whisenhunt and Rod Graves deserve a lot of credit for the trust they have built in their scouting department and for making our drafting team a very succesful unit.

Spot on Cardiac. Andre has shown a very good attitude and even though he hasnt performed like we expected of him, i strongly believe he can turn it around and i think Whisenhunt and the coaching staff do too. I highly doubt he will get cut and it would be a big suprise if he doenst make the 53.

At the end of last season 11 of the 14 guys the Cardinals drafted in 2003 and 2004 were still in the NFL.

Even more surprising. At the end of last season there were still four guys from the 2001 draft starting in the NFL and three of them had 3 pro bowl selections apiece.

Been pointing out this one for weeks now when I mentioned that a certain left-handed HOF QB believes Hall will one day be a very productive NFL QB! It's great to see the kid doing so well!

He will make the team for sure. As Cardiac stated wr is one of the most difficult positions to learn for first year players. Roberts has an excellent work ethic and will improve over time.

Wouldn't be a NFL HOF from BYU would it? ;)

Of course...Which means that he's been keeping tabs on Max all along. Could be an ounce of bias in his view of Max, however, he continues to claim that Max has all of the physical, mental and leadership skills required to excel in the NFL... Time will tell.
