1. Michael Floyd, WR. He's the best WR on the Arizona Cardinals right now. He can still be nitpicked, because he doesn't necessarily look or play like the elite tier or wideouts in the NFL, but the Arizona Cardinals don't currently have an elite wide receiver. But Michael Floyd is a stud.

2. Patrick Peterson, CB. He's an elite corner. Because of his paycheck, people are going to gripe about him unless he gets 2 INTs and returns one for a touchdown every game. That's not fair. I think that Peterson allowed 1 completion in man coverage, and just locked out Keenan Allen (a very, very good wide receiver) for almost the entire night, including a game-clinching 4th down.

3. Carson Palmer, QB. A very, very shaky first two drives from Palmer. For the entire first half, he seemed to be forcing throws into double and, at times, triple coverage. I'm interested to look at the All-22 and see what was available to him early in the game. But in the second half he played excellent football.

1. Bobbie Massie, OT. It's going to be a tough week in the film room for Massie. Had a false start and a terrible mental error that lead to a sack on Palmer where he never had a chance and lead to a fumble. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Cards bring Max Starks back this week.

2. Deone Bucannon, S. I guess he was acceptable in run support, and he was on the field a ton. But his give-up play on special teams lead to a blocked punt. You're not good enough to be an *******, Deone.

3. Bruce Arians, Head Coach. Too much time to prepare for this game lead to some mystifying decisions throughout: The terrible challenge, the overcomplicated opening script, the unconscionable 2-point conversion playcall. I think that Arians was probably putting a lot of things on film for opposing DCs to chew over, but sometimes it's just better to push the tempo.

4. BONUS GOAT: Chris Berman, Broadcaster. Just terrible. After San Diego called a time out late in the game, Berman prevented ESPN from cutting to commercial because he was hypothesizing whether or not Arians was going to challenge a spot.

Ted Ginn doesn't make the goat list?

Nah. The return to the 8 was bad, but I don't really have a problem with Ginn taking kickoffs out from five yards deep in the end zone. You have to take some chances when the upside of a good return is so high.

I think that Ginn left some opportunities on the field in the punting game.

I'd forgotten about Deone on the blocked kick but you're right he blew that.

I thought he played really well on defense, ok in coverage not great but he's a rookie and at times he's covering Gates that's just not easy. He several times impacted either in run support or pass rush by coming up the middle, by the end of the game you could see that Rivers was aware of him.

I dunno. Didn't deliver any big hits, and I don't think he defensed a pass. I'm not going to bury a rookie playing part-time in his first NFL game. He was just fine in the defense. Way better than Sam Acho, who might not be an NFL-caliber football player.

But that punt block was terrible, and erased any good plays that Deone had.

Deone made one mistake all game in that Blocked punt. Other than that, he was a very good defender.

he was on the field alot and other than the punt block mistake he didn't make glaring mistakes on defense.I did notice in the last drive they were moving him around a few times like he was confused on where to be.

Clearly don't want any more punts blocked because of him but with rookies they so often completely blow plays trying to be a hero, I didn't see that with him. He had 5 tackles, was solid for the most part in run support. I think his pass coverage will be a work in progress but we knew that when we picked him.

Andre Ellington made one mistake all game on that fumble. Other than that, he was a very good offensive player.

I guess fans are fine to think this way; I guarantee you the coaching staff and front office doesn't.

The best part about Deone, is like his name is pronounced he OWNed up to his mistake and called his lack of block on the punt a "selfish" act (as he was in a hurry to go make a hero tackle). That is a very veteran way for the kid to carry himself. I thought he was excellent on defense and played with zero hesitation.

I had Tony Jefferson was a bit of a goat on a couple of plays. His coverage skills on Gates were a bit lacking and the issue of having TE's burn us still seems to be unresolved. He also completely blew the tackle on the Matthews TD.

I dont think the challenge nor deciding to go for 2 had much to do with the prep for the game though.

I wouldnt even call his fumble a mistake, he got MAULED on that play. Breadbasket fumbles are one thing, being mauled by 3 guys is another.

Ginn did not return one kick to the the 20. That is a goat in my book. He was horrible. His judgment coming out of the endzone was horrible.

I think Stepfan Taylor looked solid. He is sure handed and always gets an extra yard or two.

Hero: Carson Palmer's Legs

Goat: Carson Palmer's Arm

:D

He had a slow start but completed a pass to like everybody wearing a Cardinal uniform, over 300 yards passing, two touchdowns and no picks, and was like 12 of 13 when it counted... and that makes his arm a goat, geez we are tough lol

It was mostly a joke, but his touch seemed to be off all night. Missing wide-open guys, throwing right to defenders (who thankfully can't catch a cold).

I have some goats. Our TEs who cannot block and our freaking return teams who are the worst blockers in the league two years running in my opinion :)

Absent hero: Zastudil. How many of those punts would he have stuck inside the 20 instead of having them roll into the end zone?

Don't agree with this at all. Palmer was not good last night. His throws were erratic all night. That game winning drive was product of the wide receivers. How many times did Palmer check down and dump off? This was a good move by Arians to change the play call when he realized Palmer had no touch.

That last drive Floyd made an amazing catch, and even the winning touchdown was 100% product of Brown, who took a screen pass

I was thinking about that on every punt, but our gunners also stopped running & fell for the "fair catch" fakeout at least twice while the ball landed at the 5 and bounced into the endzone.
