Don't agree with this at all. Palmer was not good last night. His throws were erratic all night. That game winning drive was product of the wide receivers. How many times did Palmer check down and dump off? This was a good move by Arians to change the play call when he realized Palmer had no touch.

That last drive Floyd made an amazing catch, and even the winning touchdown was 100% product of Brown, who took a screen pass

And yet Palmer ended the night with 304 yards and 2 TDs, completing 64.9% of his passes at a clip of 8.2 YPA. Plus he gained and additional 29 yards on scrambles.

It wasn't pretty, particularly through the first half. But Palmer got the job done, and as a Palmer skeptic, he deserves a game ball.

Palmer didn't have his best throwing game last night, but he made enough good plays & he kept a lot of drives going with his legs. He avoided sacks by Freeney twice when Freeney spun right past our TEs. He scrambled for 1st downs, he scrambled, pump faked on the run & then hit Taylor for the TD. He threw a beautiful deep ball to Floyd in the 1st qtr. Fitz's 1 catch was another decently thrown ball to where only Fitz could catch it... with slightly better placement that could've turned into an even bigger play.

When you QB goes 24/37, 65% completions, 304 yds, 2 tds, 0 interceptions and leads you to 2 TD drives in the 4th qtr to win the game then that's not too bad of a night.

How many time did we run that fake reverse sweep play? Goat on my list.

and they didnt buy it at all any of the times. If we would have run the actual reverse we could have hit it big as they always followed the RB.

Hero: Cardinals fans at the game.

UoP was so loud in the 4th quarter my ears are still ringing. Listened to XM NFL radio on the way home and they kept mentioning the crowd noise and how it was giving SD problems all game. Great job Cardinals fans!

You are way off base here. Palmer was just taking what the Chargers D was giving him. If he trys to force it deep then it's INT and game over. Fantastic drive by Palmer.

Heroes: The fans when the Cards were on defense

Goats: The fans when the Cards were on offense

Ruling: Considering the commuting issues to get to the game, the fact that the place looked packed makes me want to give big props to everyone who braved the traffic to support our team! Forget about that "goat" thing above!

It's never going to be that pretty with Palmer. He'll never be a top 5 QB, he just is who he is and if our defense plays like it did last night and if Palmer plays like that in 75% of our games that should be good enough to realistically contend for the playoffs.

Agree with this. He also completed 68% of his passes in the 4th quarter when it counted.

Absent hero: Zastudil. How many of those punts would he have stuck inside the 20 instead of having them roll into the end zone?

It seemed like our punter took an extra step to get the kick off. Am I imagining things?

Also on subject of Palmer and it applies since Kurt was inducted into the ROH last night. Warner turned the ball over more than 20 times in each of his last three seasons here when he turned in the best strech of Qb play in Arizona Cards history. It's easy to play revisionist history but the guy turned the ball over a lot. Of course he also threw for a crapload of touchdowns. Palmer plays loose with the ball for sure but if he can also put up points then it's not the end of the world.

BONUS GOAT: Chris Berman, Broadcaster.

I agree. I've always liked Berman, but last night he had some weird moments. His train of thought derailed on several occassions. The meandering comments on Ray Rice sounded like he was drunk or losing his marbles.

Tough Crowd in here today after a nice win.

1. Carson Palmer had a good game. 300 yards, 2 TD's, 0 int's, QBR over 100. That is good enough for us to have a chance to win almost every week. To think that a player is going to be perfect in every pass under the constant blitz of NFL defenses seems short sighted.

2. Massie is going to get an earful this week, but to replace him with Starks after one game seems extreme and counter-productive in his development, though perhaps that isn't what you meant.

3. I get the criticism on Tony Jefferson covering Gates, but frankly, I expected more from Gates who is a great TE. I think I saw Cro on Gates a few times, but I can't recall for sure offhand. We were fortunate that Gates wasn't 100%. TE's are going to continue to give us major problems - but we aren't unique in the league in this respect. TE's are giving everyone problems.

I'm not one to call out goats, but I'll say I was disappointed in the lack of production from Sam Acho and Ted Ginn.

Edit:
Oh, and Chris Berman was great at reading from a teleprompter... but is awful calling a football game. No wonder they only let him do it once a year in a game that most of the East Coast is asleep for anyway. Seriously, is there no one else at ESPN available?

And he couldn't figure out which penalty was being called. And he insisted the Chargers wanted to call a timeout for a challenge, but there was nothing to challenge. Weird.

there were no commuting issues. That was the least traffic I have EVER seen on i-10 on a work day. we left tempe at 5 and got to the stadium at 530.

That's good to hear. I was worried that people would stay home out of fear of those issues that apparently didn't exist. Definitely not "fair weather" fans tonight! Literally.

Goat: Ryan Lindley

You had one job, Ryan, and that was to tip off plays from your old team!

I have a hero and I will mention him because the dirty work he does seldom gets notice. I nominate Big Dan Williams for still making it hell running in between the tackles and clogging everything up. He is a stud NT in the 3-4 and a huge reason why teams cannot run on us... and Tommy Kelly gets some props for being solid on short notice, this defense might not be a top ten but they played like a top five last night :)

The TD to Taylor I was yelling at him the whole time but in the end it was a brilliant play by Palmer. Taylor was open the entire play first in the flat and then in the endzone but he wasn't a "sure thing" so Palmer kept looking left either hoping someone opened up, or looking off the defense. Eventually Taylor found a perfect hole where Palmer could zing it and he did. Palmer was so patient there he moved the defense opening up Taylor even more. Veteran play and VERY calm.

Was thinking the same thing. We must be running this play to set up the reverse. Maybe the reverse is coming next week!
