Is this happening before or after his 2nd interview with AZ today? I can't believe he would sign up to be coach, without even going to SD for a visit.

Report said a private plane met him in Denver and took him to San Diego for the interview.

Chargers officials picked up Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy in Denver on Monday and took him back to San Diego for an interview, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Many skid marks on wall
Much poop at the bottom of said wall
Very little poop actually stuck to wall

I think all these "journalists" are Mayans at this point.

Maybe they worked on a contract through the night and he will cancel the interview today. He seems pretty sure normally when the word contract is involved thats pretty close. There was never a report that a contract was close with reid.

If this is true, it tells me that our FO is clueless on doing what it takes to get a top HC here.

He interviewed with SD yesterday. I saw Clayton last night saying that SD was the job McCoy wanted the most but wasn't sure SD wanted him. He also said McCoy could end up in Arizona because the Cards wanted him.

It sounds like if SD was impressed and wants him, he's going there.

Report: Chargers expected to hire Mike McCoy as head coach today

Posted by Michael David Smith on January 15, 2013, 9:25 AM EST

The Chargers may be taking their head coach from the staff of an AFC West rival.

Mike McCoy, the Broncos’ offensive coordinator, is “nearing a deal” to become the Chargers’ new head coach, Jason La Canfora of CBS reports.

After interviewing with the Chargers on Monday, McCoy spoke positively about the experience and said he thought he’d be a good fit for the job. Now La Canfora reports that a deal between McCoy and the Chargers is expected to be completed today.

The Chargers, however, were expected to interview Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on Wednesday. And McCoy has been named as a candidate for the vacancies in Arizona, Chicago and Philadelphia as well. So as we’ve seen with several other coaching searches, McCoy’s current status as the favorite for the Chargers job could change.

The 40-year-old McCoy was an assistant in Carolina for nine seasons and has been the Broncos’ offensive coordinator for the last four. He has been widely praised for finding ways to succeed on offense while having three very different quarterbacks, changing from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning.

Too much crying over this. He is just a guy. Most people probably never heard of him 3 weeks ago. Eh. I won't get too excited either way.

If you have never heard of him before 3 days ago then you are not a knowledgeable NFL fan. He had HC interviews last year as well. I wont be happy with hiring Horton.

Once McCoy was in demand, you had to figure the Cards chances of signing him were slim at best.

Mikey, I'm still waiting for you to compete with the Dan Snyder's of the world like you proclaimed upon the stadium being built.

What? I wasn't on the Horton bandwagon but will admit that he could be a good HC. I just wanted others more.

Why this?

Kirby Wilson as the OC is not going to help this team, we need an experienced offensive playcaller he is not that. That is the reason the cards didnt hire Horton in the first place they didnt like his choice of staff.
