Kirby Wilson as the OC is not going to help this team, we need an experienced offensive playcaller he is not that. That is the reason the cards didnt hire Horton in the first place they didnt like his choice of staff.

That is total speculation...

not a total shock

three things going for SD:

1. Philip Rivers
2. Same division
3. Philip Rivers

much easier path in the AFC west as well

the truth is this: anybody taking the Cardinals job has to figure that if they dont find a qb in the next two seasons, they will be here for three max.

that is a steep hill to get over

Give me another reason why he wasnt first on the list? He was behind Reid, and McCoy and those are the two we know about. I dont want to hear that due dilligence crap if they liked what they heard they would have hired him. It was also reported that Horton reached out to Norv Turner after his interview. Not hard to put two and two together.

At least Bidwill waited it out...I give him credit on that! It didn't become like the Manning/Kolb fiasco.

Sorry,I don't buy it and unless it comes from a credible source I'll never buy it.

There are reports that Whiz is interviewing for the Eagles position. Perfect for him, no QB with experience. Man would he mess up Foles.

Thank you Chargers for helping us not make a mistake..

Hiring Horton would be the ultimate mistake. Cant wait til next year when we still have the leagues worst offense and have a coordinator who doesnt have a clue and wants to play smashmouth football in a division that houses a couple of the leagues best front 7's

Horton is a disaster of a choice. This will have the same ramifications as when we promoted McGinnis. If that's how it goes down, the Bidwills will again show the world how inept they really are. FAR better off keeping Whiz and continue the search for a new OC & QB than the debacle that will now be shoved down our throats. Coaching carousel here we come!

Hortons OC choice is a RB coach from the steelers, what do you think he will do? You guys do realize no one else wanted Horton right? It also seems like he is the cards last option. If the cards dont even like him that much in comparision to other canidates why do you?

Id like you and Gee to explain why you think a Horton hire will improve the offense. The defense would stay the same no matter what since Horton cant leave no matter who we sign.

Horton may be a good DC and he hasn't even done that long enough for that to be etched in stone, but he certainly doesn't have the HC experience to deal with the HC masterminds of our division. He will be outcoached weekly. Putting the main headsets on him will only dillute his defensive coaching skills. I have the HISTORY of this franchise to prove my point. KEEP Horton at DC. Prefer an Offensive minded HC!!

Looks like Jay Gruden is now who the cards want so once again Horton is passed over think he is getting the hint from MB that he didnt put together the right staff?

Just got word from Charger fans I know.. They are not happy about this.. Everybody I know outside of this board does not like McCoy..

Just about every team that hiring is looking for a HC that has a grasp on:

1) Running an offensive system
2) Diverse and sophisticated playcalling
3) Handling and evolving the QB play

Horton can't bring that unless the FO hires someone for the job.

McCoy brings that on his own. So does Haley but I still have reservations about him.

If its between Horton and inexperieced OC and DC coaches OR Todd Haley and Horton as DC, i want Haley and so should you :)

Exactly.

My choice clearly would be Haley. Has HC experience and I dig what he did as OC with the Cards. No HC experiments - PLEASE!

Ken Whisenhunt won just one fewer game against teams with winning records in THIS messed up year than Haley did in his entire tenure as a head coach. Yes, we won 2. Haley won 3 games against winning teams in three years..one of those a 9-7 team.

Gnaw on that for a bit.

Haley is an experiment in futility, with a healthy dose of ***** tossed in.

Mike McCoy is a California native and San Diego already has a QB in place. Can't really blame the guy for making the Chargers his first choice.

Back to the drawing board.
