Check the 49ers board. You can actually give "rep" or reputation points to a poster for a good post.

So does the FCS board I post on as well. You can give good or bad rep points. I only have one on the other, from a guy I had totally slammed. Of course, I got three good rep points from the same post from other posters :)

blech - sad for the guy - definitely shows the larger problem when you can't keep your nose clean when you are not under contract, have a history or this type of incidents and have your overall motivation questioned

seattle signed marcus pollard today in an unrelated move

stevens will not be a seahawk again - he lost a lot of the fans last year with his play and this is his NW nail in the coffin

sad in a koren robinson kind of way - i think both of them had their problems with drink/drugs effect thier focus and it hurt them on the field with inconsistent performance, lack of focus & drops

Oh what could have been with both of them. Both of them had immense potential, just couldn't get it together. They'll both look back at this in 10 years when they're a lot more mature and realize what they blew.

With his past "incidents" , he qualifies as " to be incarcerated ", with this one. How does he even have a driver's license? He should be the poster boy for public transportation.

I still think this guy is nowhere near on the same plane with the Pacman Jones of the world..

????? Besides this. He was also charged for breaking someone's jaw with a baseball bat, and was accused of drugging and raping a women (charges dimissed).

Is he the king of thuganomics? No. But he is getting there.

Still, while most people will say "Good, I hope he goes down in flames", .

Can I add "and burns to a crisp"

I hate this guy and always will. He is a punk with a big mouth, skewed reality, and a player who I think barely has the skill to stay in the NFL.

BTW: Anyone else think it is funny that he dropped his cell phone and wallet, and is supposed to be a NFL TE. Good hands!

But seriously...

Is there something unique about the Valley (and for that matter the Tampa Bay area) that causes more athletes than usual to wind up on a police blotter?

Because that's my perception from here in "The Holier Than Thou" State (aka Jersey).

Don't forget South Beach where they shoot and taser them.

Darn tootin'

In New Jersey all it takes is money and you get out of anything (in some cases of course).

I guess the cops out in the desert have better will power.

Holier Than Thou - good one!

There is something in the water.

It's called "tequila".

Pretend like you are a young and rich athlete....

Where are you going to work out during the day, and party at night during the offseason? Florida or New Jersey? Arizona or New Jersey? Throw in the scantily-clad women, it's a no brainer!

Bingo!

"Hey Stevens, what are you doing this weekend?"

"Chillin' in Newark."

Partial facts. Were you aware that the person whose jaw he was charged with breaking was also wielding a bat? True story. There might be some relevant details there that we're missing. As for the woman, it's noteworthy that the case didn't come to light until he was a millionaire and that there wasn't enough there to bring charges. But surprise, surprise, there was a failed civil suit.

I don't presume to know what did or didn't happen with that woman. I'm just not in the habit of filling in the blanks when I have zero information on the situation. The only thing that has been factually proven about Stevens is that he's a fall down drunk and an idiot.

Absolutely you can. I agree with parts of this, others I don't. At the end of the day, the guy needs to get help. Getting picked up for weed and alcohol after four years of legal absence doesn't quite make me think we need to but a literal bullet in the guy but I'd just as soon he was no longer associated with my favorite team, maybe not even my favorite sport. The guy needs to focus on gettin' his life together. I think he's proven that he's not responsible enough to handle the life of an NFL player.

BTW: Anyone else think it is funny that he dropped his cell phone and wallet, and is supposed to be a NFL TE. Good hands!
Yeah, I got a good chuckle out of that one. I wonder if the reporter did too when he wrote it.

Jerramy Stevens is a loser of a human being. He doesn't need to "grow up" because immaturity is not his problem. His problem is that he's a criminal.

Wally is right, this scum should be in jail. I'll make a prediction right now: he'll be in jail or prison within two years. Then seachicken can go and visit him there to help his rehabilitation.

Hello? None of this current stuff happened until after he was a millionaire.

Gotta love it when the admins attack you. I don't know why I'd need to be a part of anybody's rehabilitation. Maybe we should kill the guy by firing squad for being an alcoholic pothead and let Skkorpion pull the trigger. I'm sure he'd have absolutely no problem with that and think that was good fun because he's so tough and cool.

Great prediction. It really takes a rocket scientist to predict that a guy who just got pulled over for his second or third offense DUI combined with possession of a controlled substance is going to jail within the next two years. You're amazing.

To seachicken

This proves (for the first time in four years) that he still hasn't figured out how to manage his life. Very much like Koren Robinson, I think he needs to spend some major time out of football cleaning up his life but I still think this guy is nowhere near on the same plane with the Pacman Jones of the world.

All that being said, our new front office will never go near this guy with a ten foot pole again and I think the organization is correct in that approach. Still, while most people will say "Good, I hope he goes down in flames", I will say that I hope he gets his life together, gets off the weed, off the booze, and gets it going in a positive direction.

I wasn't attacking you, I was just so moved by your sympathetic concern for this poor man whose problems, according to you, are immaturity, booze and drugs, that I figured you'd want to be involved in his rehabilitation.

My "sympathetic concern"? Wow. Comprehension isn't your strong suit. I wouldn't exactly call saying that someone is an immature alcoholic pothead and an idiot sympathetic but maybe that's you're interpretation.

It's ironic because I think you and I are saying the same thing except that I don't see a 27 year old who hasn't committed murder or armed robbery as a "waste of a human life" that's not worth saving. If the rape charge had gone past a fleeting allegation, I'd probably be more in your camp. As of now, he's an alcoholic pothead. Last I checked, there's still hope for those people... unless your a cool tough guy like Skkorpion that says "Kill 'em all!!"

Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell confirmed Tuesday that free agent Jerramy Stevens will not return to the team in 2007.

No surprise here, as Stevens was arrested for DUI and marijuana possession last week. Still, one has to figure some team will take a cheap flier on the talented but troubled former first-round pick.

Check out the weather for Jersey on that date, and the weather for Phoenix, and you'll have your answer. Same thing happens in Miami.

They have great training facilities and rock-bottom real estate prices here, and so I'd say that there are no fewer than 500-1000 national athletes who keep homes in the Valley of the Sun and spend large portions of their offseasons here. Where else can you play golf in January?
