The only important things are (a) does Sean know the proper mechanics and techniques of the QB position in the NFL? and (b) is he good at teaching this to young QB's so that they're consistently sound in the mechanical and mental aspects of the game?

I could care less whether Sean sounds cool or arrogant on ESPN.

On paper at least, I like the fact that we'd have someone who actually played QB teaching our young QB's.

I am watching close to make sure Green doesnt hire cousins, in-laws, brothers, step-sons, friends or whatever like buddy did and steal money.

This guy seems an awful like more friend than actual coaching talent.

If it were to happen then Id say 0 for 1 denny.

You would consider that a justifiable reason for hiring him????

Amazing, simply Amazing.

One thing I now know I can pretty much count on with Cbus.....If I take any football situation....think......now what is the worst possible scenario that might evolve here?......and invariably Cbus will post that as an option.

:D

Amazing is good term for you.Or is clueless better? I can't stand Woody Page or Jay Marrioti either.I think we should hire them as DL and WR coaches.Flip on a light switch and open your eyes and look up.Maybe then you'll see the things going right over your head.

David Leadbetter and Butch Harmon won absolutely zippo as pro golfers, yet are two of the most talented teachers in the game.

What makes you think this? I mean, I keep hearing people throw Ryan's name out there, and it is flat out ridiculous.

He won for 8 years in Minnie. He was, most of the time, running the show all by himself (unlike Buddy, who got his first opportunity to run the show when he came here).

There isn't an iota of evidence to even make the comparison. It reminds me of the Dexter Jackson is Larry Brown arguments that were made on this board (and were just as ridiculous).

I cant figure out what you are responding to in my post. Care to try again? I didnt say he was a ryan. I said I was watching closely to see if he is going to try what buddy did.

As far as I am concerned what qualifications does this sean guy have to be on any staff other than he is a friend of Green's from espn?

This is looking forward mind you about a rumor. He may not even be hired.

From ESPN:

ESPN football analyst Sean Salisbury has been offered the job of quarterback coach of the Cardinals under new head coach Dennis Green, whom Salisbury played for when Green was the head coach of the Vikings. The two also worked together at ESPN as Green was an analyst with ESPN the last two years. Salisbury will meet with Green on Jan. 12 in Arizona to discuss the offer.

Wow, you showed it right here!:p

You said that you were looking out to make sure that he wasn't trying what Buddy did. Why do you evem think he would do ANYTHING that Buddy did? Why the comparison?

What is your reason for doing it? Is it based on reality, or based on prejudice (not racial prejudice, buy your past judgements)?

Buddy never had the power that Green had in Minnesota until he came here. Green basically had that power for 10 years with eight winning seasons. He didn't exactly screw up the Vikings...

Umm... Wow. It was all fun and games when it was just speculation, but wouldn't you rather have a guy that HAS TUTORED QUARTERBACKS BEFORE IN THE NFL, or even college, to be your QBs coach?

I hope this works out and he has success, but good lord.

I hope this is true.

I watch a lot of ESPN, and Sean Salisbury knows what he's talking about. He was a QB under Denny Green in Minni.

I really like his old school attitude, he always goes off on showboating, and isn't afraid to call out poor performances.

His weekly piece with John Clayton is great.

I think this new staff Denny puts together will be full of great coaching.

One more thing.

.....Sa- lisb- ury.
Roeth- lisb- erger.

If we're going to hire an ESPN guy I'd prefer Jaworski, but I agree Salisbury knows what he's talking about and whoever it was (Kerouac?) who said natural talents make poor coaches nailed it. What's ironic is Salisbury WAS a natural talent at one point, he was the top rated Qb in America coming out of HS, but he was a disappointment in college, made the NFL much like Kent Graham on arm strength, and over the years learned the position. I think he'd be a nice hire.

I just can't contain my excitement over such a complete overhaul of the staff. Won't it be nice to play Detroit and know that they don't know our defensive signals? Won't it be nice to play the Ravens and know that Tom Knight can't tell McAllister what play is coming so he can get a pick for a TD?

I think this is a very positive hiring for the Cards with green.

Because he has been out for quite awhile and this could be his chance to make enough to never have to work again. Buddy is still down on the farm counting his money and so are his sons and the players his sons represented lol
