Chad Moeller

Heard this little tid-bit...

Harley Davidson's factory is just a few miles down the road from Miller Park and used to always give any member of the Brewers a free Harley if they hit for the cycle....

Well Chad Moeller hit for the cycle last week, but doesn't get a motorcycle because they announced they were stopping the promotion a few weeks before the season. What a jip!!! :D

Randy escapes two on no outs. What was Leiberthal thinking? Gonzo conceded him going to third and he stays on second. Doesn't he know Gonzo can only throw the ball 20 feet?

FoxAZSports just mentioned RJ was pissed for being taken out. Can't blame him.

By the way, Gambo said Elmer will start Tuesday but then Fossum will replace him in the rotation. Elmer will go to the bullpen and Oscar will be sent down to Tucson. He also said Brunny will be called up and Sadler goes on the DL.

FoxAZSports just mentioned RJ was pissed for being taken out. Can't blame him. He looked very pissed at the game, and was quite cold in the postgame interview saying "He's the manager; I felt fine."

Koppy was not given as much warm-up time as usual, it seemed to us - nor was Choate, or especially Oscar. BB pretty much lost my vote tonight. If he can't play havoc with the lineup, he'll do it with the pitchers? and - does anyone besides me start to question Kniffin's role?

Mantei looked terrified on the mound - pale, tense, NO confidence at all - my heart really went out to him. I'm sure he's thinking of guys like Ankiel and others who lost "it" and never found it again.

My God, I devoutly hope for all of the above. Can we also put Mantei on the DL, and replace Choate while we're at it? How about, "All you guys with an ERA over 6, take the I-10 South."

Fossum is taken off the DL today, Hairston sent down to make room. Brian Bruney called up, too. :D

Tracy knocks in Bautista and it's now 2-1 Phillies.

I would really like to find out who's been assigning the Coaching staff for the past few years -- Jerry or BB.

Last season, we had a Hitting Coach and a 3B Coach who were both inept at their assignments, then dumped.

This year we have a Bench Coach who is absolutely unqualified for that job.

Bob Brenly needs someone strong enough to get him back on track when he goes off half-cocked or doesn't react to recurring problems. Robin Yount is obviously not that person.

The logical choice for Bench Coach would have been Al Pedrique, with his years of Managerial experience and familiarity with the BabyBacks.

But I am so glad that he's been able to keep his distance from Brenly, so when he replaces him, it will be a new regime.

Brandon Webb was obviously getting in trouble, gives up four runs including a 3-run homer . . . and Ken Phelps says, "The Diamondbacks might be getting the bullpen up now."

Brilliant, Ken.

I also wish that the Gub'nor would stop calling him "Digger".

Ken Phelps is no Digger Phelps. Digger had more on the ball when he and I were schoolmates at Rider University in New Jersey than Ken shows now.

Getting back to the bullpen not being up while Webb was losing it . . . never mind. What else is new?

7-5 Phillies after five. Did you guys see the Tigers/Rangers score? It's 15-15 in the 8th.

Crap, D-Backs had the tying run on second in the 9th but lose 8-7.

Well this isn't a good way to start this game off for Sparks and the D-backs

2 batters faced ... 1 HR and 1 single

D-backs already down 1-0 *sigh*

It's early but need the win tonight. If the Diamondbacks have a bad homestand can Brenly survive?

Hillenbrand scores on a RBI groundout by Bautista and the score is now tied 1-1

I loved seeing the basic fundamentals of get 'em on, get 'em over, and get 'em in

Actually, Finley failed to get Shea to third but a wild pitch on the third stike got him over. Looks like Sparks has settled down. There were some who thought the acquisition of Sparks was a bad move but right now it looks like a good one.

Tracy throws the ball away and the Phillies are now up 4-1. This team looks flat. Has Brenly lost the team? The Marlins were like this last year and they replaced the manager and won the World Series.

Right, and Brenly just walked in two runs. I don't think Jack McKeon would make Choate look any better.

But I agree, they have that doldrum look - sort of glazed - tonight. They looked better last night.

Brenly did have them intentionally walk to load the bases for Thome. Like Joe Morgan said, it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher.
