After talking to players in the locker room this morning they’re thrilled playing the same system under Vance Joseph for consecutive seasons; He made some adjustments later in the season simplifying things giving them the ability to play faster & minimizing the checks at the LOS.

#32 in opposing passer rating by nearly 6 points over #31.
Keep in mind we lost Our two starting cb’s in addition we lost one of our top defensive f/a signings( Philon) starting 3 and sometimes 4 rookies on defense.

Miami lost their two starting corners as well. Traded Minkah Fitzpatrick and lost Xavien Howard to injury (played 5 games). Everyone deals with stuff.

And once again I will ask. How many posters have accused VA with having talent ladened personnel? At some point you have consider you can’t paint the Mona Lisa with a 5” paint brush. And they DID improve the last 1/4 of the season. Isn’t that what we were hoping for?

I didn’t realize that there were seven coaching holdovers from last years staff. They let the assistant special teams coach go as well as the defense of line coach. Maybe VJ got in so late that he couldn’t really build the right staff around him. Won’t have that excuse next year assuming they continue to make upgrades. I expect the D to be much better next year just because we will add players and have injured players back. An upgrade at ILB to work alongside Hicks, someone other than Suggs opposite of Chandler Jones and Alford or another decent outside CB will make a huge difference and are all very doable in FA. Some new depth at DT and Safety could make VJ look better than he is next year.

I'm not a VJ fan, at least not yet. But firing a minority HC/DC after 1 year in consecutive years would have created quite the stir. We all know that Wilks definitely deserved to be fired. I think that VJ may have deserved the benefit of the doubt. Maybe. Give him more talent & let's see how it pans out. After last year's one & done coaching staff, this team does need some continuity.
Yeahhhh. I gueeesssss. :p

I like keeping VJ. Not saying I was particularly happy with the defense this season, but the improvements over the course of the season were obvious. A new scheme is always a learning process, and he didn’t particularly have a ton to work with at certain positions. Some of the play calls were head scratchers, but I don’t fire a guy over that
