Seattle, WA - The Seattle Kraken hosted the Utah Hockey Club on Friday and celebrated its annual Women in Hockey Night at Climate Pledge Arena. The event featured Kraken players arriving in specialty jerseys designed by Mexican-American artist Marisol Ortega. These jerseys, worn by the players, were auctioned off through the One Roof Foundation, with proceeds benefiting hockey access programs and scholarships for girls in honor of Women in Hockey Night. Assistant Coach Jessica Campbell signed both a jersey and a hat bearing the phrase "You Can, You Will."
The evening’s festivities included a performance of the national anthem by arena host Angela Salem, while DJ Pretty Please kept the energy high with music during warmups and intermissions.
Women’s Pro Hockey Seattle was honored with the Heroes of the Deep Award. The organization’s founders, Zoe Harris and Cindy Dayley, waved to the crowd before receiving a $32,000 check.
Three members of the Kraken Hockey League’s Youth Girls Club were named honorary guest captains and stood alongside the starting lineup during player introductions. The girls also participated in a skills competition during the first intermission.
Throughout the evening, the women of the Kraken were celebrated on the jumbotron, including broadcasters Alison Lukan and Linda Cohn.
The Kraken's next theme night is Asian American Native Hawaii Pacific Islander Night on March 31st vs the Dallas Stars.
