With the Cardinals possibly going in another direction in the 1st round, who are the viable RB canditates to choose from in the 2nd? The one's I can think of off the top of my head are Green, Jennings, Davis and Ringer.

Any preference of the above backs over the others?

Any other backs you prefer?

I assume we are talking about a pick @ 63.

My list would be - Greene, Davis, Jennings

Then there is a 3rd teir or a drop off after that IMO.

I like James Davis.

And maybe Javon Ringer.

What are the chances Lesean McCoy runs a sub 4.4 40 at his pro day? That would make him much more attractive at #31 as a couple .10's of a second with RB's (and CB's) can be all the difference in the world.

Shonn Green and maybe Kory Sheets in 5th or 6th would give us power and speed. Sheets played on a pass oriented offense. He can return kicks too.

Pretty good chance. Also I don't really want Ringer before the 4th round, he is slow, and not exactly a power back either. More of a finesse runner, and he isn't particularly bright. (OSU withdrew their scholarship offer 4 years ago because his SAT scores were too low.)

And that's the order you prefer? All three are unimpressive 4o times for a back, no? So is Ringer. Are there any more dangerous backs that are durable? I know it's asking alot @63 or beyond. Also what do they bring to the table different from Hightower?

Here's a report on Davis.

But if you watched Ringer, you had to love his durability and he just seemed to get it done, all the time.

Kory Sheets he had a pretty good combine ran a 4.47. Also can catch the ball well and played in a wide open offense. So he may be able to hold up somewhat when he has to block. Is near or at the top for touchdowns in purdue history.

I just don't think that the Cards go for a rb in round one. Whis feels that you can get a quality back in later rounds. IMO Cards are going to look for a back with speed. Mike Goodson from Texas A&M would appear to have that speed.
He is 5'11" 208 lbs. He could be there in round 3.

- NFL DRAFT SCOUT RISER: Mike Goodson RB Texas A&M: Goodson posted a blistering 4.43-second 40-yard dash at his March 4 Pro Day. That was improved from the 4.54 he ran at the Scouting Combine in late February. - Rob Rang, NFL Draft Scout

He also has alot of Red Flags so that would cause him to fall. He may be a bargain late.

Count me as a guy who does not like Goodson. Dont trust college RB's who have low YPC's.

Plus what RB comes out after posting 400 yards and 4.3 ypc his junior year. I will tell you what kind, the kind who wears out his welcome and who's coaching staff doesnt like the kid. Two different coaching staffs wont give this immature kid a good recommendation. A Brand new caoching staff in Mike Sherman that said in his presser to begin spring ball that the O was going to run through Goodson first. Production went down every year, started out with over 6 yards a carry, then to 4.6, then to 4.3. Coaches questioned his toughness more then once and its part of the reason why he lost favor. Complained about a stiff neck, groin injury, and knee injury and thats before the first game.

And the kiss of death for a RB. Doesnt find the endzone.

I am only dissappionted in this kid because I thought he was going to be the next great RB after his freshman year. Then his production drastically declined and all the reports about how much of a cancer and immature the kid was came out.

He has the physical abilities to play RB in the NFL but he has zero of the intangibles to actually use them to his full advantage.

No argument with you, joesshmo on Goodson. He has the skill set to be a first round pick but with the track record of being a mid round pick with bust potential. It will be interesting to see where he ends up and at what round.

Nobody for Andre Brown?
\I have him rated 2nd on my RB board (though that could change between now and late April).

1. Moreno
2. A Brown (weighs 226/Most recent forty: 4.46)
3. McCoy
4. Greene
5. D Brown
6. Davis
7. Sheets
8. Peerman (evidently ran a 4.45)
9. Jav Williams
10. Wells (OK. I'm probably too harsh on him/Pro Day could change low rank)
11. Goodson
12. Ringer
13. Jer Johnson
14. Jennings
15. Foster
16. Dev Moore

Andre Brown, who was the best-looking tailback at the Senior Bowl, came away with some impressive combine numbers that will further bolster his stock. The N.C. State product weighs 224 pounds but was the fourth-fastest running back with a 4.49 40. He also had 24 reps of 225 pounds and a 37-inch vertical jump. - Matt Barrows, Sacramento Bee

He could be there when we pick in the 2nd round. Would be a good pick and allow us to address other needs in the first round like center and de/olb.

Remember, Emmitt Smith ran a 4.6 40. 40 time isn't the best meter for how fast a RB is, game film is....Leeland McElroy anyone?

Probably? :biglaugh:If he were the 10th back picked in this draft, whoever picked him would have the steal of the draft.

i wold avoid Ringer. He has been used a ton at Mich St. and has had injury concerns all the way back to high school. He's either one, possibly both, knees worked on. All that wear and tear on surgically repaired knees doesn't bode for a long future in the NFL.
My RB rankings are:
Wells
Moreno
McCoy
Brown,D
Jennings
Goodson
Brown
Foster
Greene
Ringer

best 3rd down backs:
Sheets
Davis
Moore
Ian Johnson
Peerman

a guy who i see rated decently but know nothing about is Javaris Williams from Tennessee St. He's 5'9 220 and pretty quick.
