I think Simmons would be much better if he did much more of his work downhill and sideways rather than going away from the ball.

Everything he is bad at is when he's going away from the ball. Keep his eyes forward and he's much better.
Disagree.

Simmons biggest issues that I have seen are his ability to be a read and react LB . His eyes get confused and he takes to many false steps which gets his pursuit angles cut off and gets shim caught in traffic.

I do agree with Dvontel that Simmons has been worse in coverage than he was billed to be but I argue that this is magnified by terrible technique, poor understanding of zone principles, and his number of snaps matched up vs WRs. Some of these are correctable IMO.

I don't expect him to be Ray Lewis but he can spy, seal edges vs run, blitz etc

Every splash play he's ever made has been downhill or sideways. It was similar at Clemson. Every SMH play he's ever made is going backwards.

His coverage is awful near the end of year 3. I don't see it improving much.

Similar to asking the most beautiful woman you have ever seen to marry you and after she says ¨ yes ¨ you realize you have just condemned yourself to a lifetime of jealousy and suspicion.
The most Cardinal thing ever would be not trading back for fear of landing too many good players.

This was a close poll between the DT and Edge Rusher.

I guess my main question is which of the two would be a 3 down player, or would one be in on a rotation basis? Would Anderson be a full time OLB for us, purely an edge rusher on passing downs, or more like a traditional DE?

Compare the answer to that to how much of a run stopper compared to pass rusher is Carter? Does he have the potential to truly be an Aaron Donald type? If he is truly a 3 down threat in his ability to fully plug the middle up as well as collapse the pocket on a regular basis in passing situations, then it seems a no brainer to take him.

Thoughts?
