The path to the draft officially starts today. I know we have another game to play but thats two weeks away, and with us picking later in the draft it is even more important to know about these guys since we will have a wider range of guys to make a pick from instead of just the blue chippers.

So with the Super Bowl game two weeks away and no need to rash anymore Boldin threads here we go.

Post all of your thoughts on what you read, see, or here in this thread if possible so we can keep it all in one place and easy to find.

For those that dont know the two hour Practices will be aired every day this week at 2 pm AZ time on the NFL network. Followed up by "Path to the Draft" post practice coverage at 6 pm AZ time. Set your Tivo's. I know I will post my thoughts after I watch them looking forward to reading yours as well.

Normally the Cardinals have a heavy presence at those practices. I wonder who goes this year beyond the scouts and personnel dept.

None of the coaches will be there most likely. Spencer our ST coach was on the radio this morning and was asked about a break and he said there is no break. This week will actually be a normal practice week because they want to get everything in before the media circus that is the super bowl week happens. He said this will be a nromal practice week then next week (media circus week) will be a week to refine and tweak.

Tuesday is a day off for the players though so we may see a short appearance for some of the coaches on that day.

I want Alex Mack, C, California. He is currently projected to go at #29, so we have a shot.

I don't think I would take a center with the first pick. I think we were lucky to have picked up Sendlein and believe he has played well I do not remember any bad snaps. I think we have to see who we are able to resign before decideing who to draft. I just hope we can keep our core and not fall apart like after the 98 season.

It would be nice if the Cards could find a dynamite kick returner in the mold of Dante Hall. Wouldn't really matter what other position he played as long as he could make the team on special teams.

Other than that, I think the priorities are tight end (not a great draft for every-down pass catchers at that position) and whatever positions are going to be hurt by free agency (which could very well be running back and receiver).

Larry English, Brandon Pettigrew and Alphonso Smith are my top three choices for our first round pick at this point.

An interesting note, Michael Johnson didn't show up for the Senior Bowl. I don't think that he's the lottery pick that he think he is. Probably didn't want to get exposed.

Boy its really hard for me to care about the senior bowl. Normally I'm really focused on this but for some reason I have a total lack of interest.

Hey, our rookie cap shouldn't be very large this year and we truly can take BPA.

Its all about English. I would be all over English even if we had the 21st pick. Teams already know about this kid and if they dont they will come draft day and I have a feeling he will be drafted earlier then we pick. He is already top 20 on Mayocks list of Seniors.

With Gresham not decalring for the draft I fear that Pettigrew will also be gone. That hurt our chances some IMO, and I hate that because besides English, Pettirgrew would be my #2 even at #21(if we still had it).

Smith might drop not because of talent because teams wont like him measuring in below 5-9.

At this point in time I think I am keying in on Clint Sintim, or one of the interior OL that should be there.

Without a doubt. He saw a pretty good list of OL that he would have to face every day in practice, his passion for the game has been in question so this just leads more poeple to believe that, plus it probably also means he isnt in shape yet. He probably doesnt want to be compared right next to some other pretty decent list of DE's and pass rushers.

Cool, am I wrong about the change in the draft order now?

No are correct. Draft order is set expect for 31 and 32 after the outcome of the super bowl.

Kody Sheets out of Purdue is looking good and I can't wait to see Jeremiah Johnson do work.

Brett Rhomar has been the best QB so far and watching Nathan Brown makes baby Jesus cry. He's looks awful.

Oh my god. BJ Raji looks DAMN good. And his teammate Brace doesn't look too bad either.

Mitch King is quick.

Ziggy Hood has a nasty spin move.

Schuman from VT has been getting killed.

Donald's boy Alex Mack is holding his own against Raji.

Loadholt has been holding a bit too much and is clearly a right tackle. Inconsistent pass blocker.

Mitch King has a really good first step.

How about Herman Johnson weighing in over 380 lbs?

I like Sendlein...as a backup, but he has stepped on Warner's feet 1 too many times for my tastes. We were lucky Edge turned what should have been a loss of 5 after that happened against Philly into a nice run.

Mayock compared Nate Davis to Tavaris Jackson and the panel went dead silent. It was funny.

Oh my god. BJ Raji looks DAMN good.

Raji would be a very good fit in the Cards 3-4 scheme. Missed his junior year because advisers screwed up his summer class load, so he hasn't been on the radar like some other guys. Right now the Cards have to use a big 40 front on run downs because they don't have a nose tackle to own the A-gaps. A guy like Raji might rectify that problem and the Cards could stay in their base 30 on every down and maybe use a 9-technique OLB on first downs to get a real pass rush. Could the Cards find a Derrick Thomas type in Round 2? That would be a thrilling draft.

Mitch King is quick.

King's got his work cut out for him, BUT I think he could be a great value 2nd day as a 3-4 DE.

He doesn't have the strength of a lot of traditional tackle/ends but has Dockett-esque quickness off the line.

John Lott could help...

REALLY wish I had the network right now.

Raji would be a very good fit in the Cards 3-4 scheme.

As rare as a plugger is in the draft it would be a smart move... and it'd help keep Watson fresh, but it'd also mean the FO swung and missed on Branch, which seems like a certainty, but it'd also mean a really off draft that year.

On the upside it'd mean they admit to mistakes quickly and move on.
