Unless the Suns pull a trade for a starting SG, which I'm not a big proponent of, there about 9 SG's still available that might be worth a look. Brown and Redd are the ones linked to us since they were here last season. I think Lee is too expensive and not necessarily the best long term option over anyone else available.

Below is a run down of the best 8 options for us, Rush being RFA with GS being able to match any offer they receive. All the other's are free game.

The best defensively and overall productivity is probably Rush, however, GS would most likely match any offer we gave him. So, out of those left, IMO my preference is to not mess with Rush and go after Belinelli and/or Barbosa. After those 2, I like West then Brown. I would look at Redd if only one of Belinelli and Barbosa are signed as a veteran mentor to help Dudley with the youngins.

I like the idea of bringing Shannon Brown back at a reasonable price but I want someone more.

Just from a sentimental aspect, I would not mind seeing Barbosa back in a Suns uniform. He would have to come at a reasonable price though.

Brown or barbosa. Michael Redd is cool too..

The thing i like about Redd and Barbosa is a long term contract is probably not necessary
1-2 year deals

Wonder what GS's plans are for Rush. Clay is obviously their boy at the position.

Bang for buck we should stick with Brown.

And Delonte West only if there is a gun to the heads of everyone I love.

I think the most likely scenario is Brown and Redd unless Barbosa is homesick. I feel like the Suns raised Barbosa so he has a soft spot in my heart.

Didn't Gambo say something on the radio about how the Suns are gonna sign Shannon Brown back on a 1 yr deal and its gonna be announced today or tomorrow or something?

You tell me! I'll take it if true. Much less scary than the multi-year offers I've been hearing.

Out of these options, I'd take Barbosa in a heartbeat. He may be slightly less talented compared with others on the list, but I'd rather watch a Suns team with Barbosa winning 25 than a Suns team with Brown or West winning 35. I just can't stand those guys, and after Nash & Hill left, it'd be nice to have at least some players on the team I could see myself rooting for.

Courtney Lee would be my first choice but he wants to play for the Celtics. They also want him but are trying to figure a way to get him as they have very little money under the cap.

I think if the Suns only give someone a one-year deal, they are probably positioning themselves to go after Harden or perhaps another SG next year. I don't see that working out any better than with Gordon this year, but can't blame them for trying.

Even if they are not targeting a big free agent next year, they shouldnt give a guy a multi year deal because its the best of whats left. IMO, the best remaining SG is probably Rush, and he isnt someone that a team should commit to for multiple seasons.

Sarver did talk about the additions of Dragic and Beasley at halftime of tonight's summer league game but no mention of shooting guards. He sort of skirted over it (about the Suns making further additions) by saying it was important to keep CAP room this season and next.

And some folks here still think Sarver already wasted cap space this off season...

From Paul Coro's column in this morning's AZ Republic:

Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver advocated adding Dragic and Scola, but the Suns apparently are putting the brakes on major signings. Instead, they could turn to bringing back Shannon Brown for another one-year deal rather than engaging in a battle for Courtney Lee and creating Houston Rockets West with a third starter from a team that also didn't make the playoffs.

I'd like to bring Brown back. Why not? As a starter in the last month of the season he outplayed Mayo and pretty much everyone else who is available. Redd would be good off the bench again. But I'd consider leaning towards Barbosa since I don't trust Redd's knees.

Looks like the Suns starting SG this season will be Jared Dudley and our SG rotation will likely be the same as last year if Brown is retained. The Suns will be lacking depth at both wing positions. Lots of players will be playing out of position.

So in a season where Childress might have finally gotten some minutes and perhaps generate some trade value, he was amnestied only because Gordon's offer sheet was still on the books even though NO already matched, forcing the Suns to create additional cap space for Scola.

1. Dragic / Marshall / Telfair
2. Dudley / Brown?
3. Beasley
4. Scola / Morris / Warrick
5. Gortat / Frye

Only one active roster spot open if Brown is re-signed.

Agreed, but I believe each team is required to have thirteen players on their roster, with one being inactive. So technically there should be two roster spots open.

I always like LB. Wouldn't mind seeing him back, but there are a few decent option there if they can be had on the cheap. We are all familiar with Brown and Redd. Brown would be my first choice. I like Courtney Lee as well. I think in a starter role he would be okay here.

Redd had some really nice games (and some bad ones as well) for us down the stretch. I wouldn't mind seeing him back, though he's old and will probably be out of the league by the time we're relevant again.

It's important to have some older vets around. Scola is now our oldest player, but he's only been in the league five years.

But I did not hear any mention of Redd's name associated with the Suns this summer, so I don't think the Suns are interested in bringing him back.
