“It’s probably the best team I’ve ever played on, on paper anyway,” O’Neal said Thursday. “I’ve always been on management to get me the power forward I’ve needed and the shooters I’ve needed.”

lol so shaq says Zydrunas and Varejao > Amare

That seems like a pretty general statement to me. He is basically saying he has had problems with having both at the same time. When he was with the Heat at the end they had bad 3 point shooting and no PF. When he was with the Suns we had erratic 3 Point shooting and then Amare went down. I bet his statement is geared towards his stint with Miami more then his blip on the radar with the Suns.

In terms of "Cavs are the best team I ever played on"....I don't see a thing wrong with that either. He is propping up his current team. Not to mention that LeBron is on the same tier as Kobe and Wade...something he didn't have here with the Suns.

Is it really the best team? I seriously doubt he believes that. The Lakers are the best team he has ever been on IMO.

I'm very far removed from having the slightest concern over anything O'Neal says. He's just another self-important celebrity in the twilight of relevance.

Having said that..at least he has been relevant. Something I can't say for Amare's career so far.

Just propping up his new team, nothing more. I'm sure he realizes that Payton, Malone, Kobe and the guys that he used to have on his team are far better talent-wise than the team he's on now. But LeBron is arguably the best player he's played with (let's not start the Kobe/LeBron/Wade debate, please. I did say arguably.)

Compare this statement to the time he pointed to the finger on his hand with no ring on it when he first attended the Suns game after being traded to them. He was simply trying to motivate and prop his team up, and I'm sure he realized it would be a tall task to bring a title to Phoenix.
