According to a report from the New York Daily News, Shaquille O'Neal believes he's going to New Orleans in a deal for Tyson Chandler.

The Hornets traded Chandler to the Oklahoma City Thunder ahead of the deadline, only to later have it be rescinded. New Orleans still appears motivated to deal Chandler and would like Shaq's expiring contract.

Note this is from Shaq's own words. If it wants to go there, get it done.

This could be interesting... Shaq for Chandler straight up doesn't work financially so New Orleans would have to throw in someone like Morris Peterson (could be a good replacement for Barnes or Hill if they leave) to match up salaries.

Chandler is still young, but we would have to get Posey or an Antonio Daniels/2010 pick package to make it worth it imo.

Shaq is a huge revenue machine for the franchise, and is playing awesome. I don't see too many scenarios where it's worth it to our FO to move him.

EDIT: No to Mo Pete. He lost his starting job to Rasual Butler and has tanked it up this year! Do you know how much you have to underperform to lose out to Rasual Butler? He is also a SG and only a SG and wouldnt do well to replace Barnes or Hill in any way)

Haven't really watched many NO games this year so I didn't know Mo Pete was stinking it up. He used to be pretty good when he was in Toronto. Posey probably fits better if the Suns are gonna try to get more defensive minded.

I heard Daniels may be packaged along with Chandler in the deal. If we can get a pick with it, that would be pretty sweet. I don't think Daniels can contribute much anyways.

Does anyone know what the status is on Chandler's health? I know he played last night, but is his toe bugging him still?

NO won't trade Posey. He's their only good player coming off the bench.

Chris Paul & David West are probably the only 2 untouchable guys on that roster so I think they'd trade Posey... especially if they pick up a good free agent this offseason.

With the way NO has fallen off this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to shake up their roster a little to get back into the top 3 teams in the west.

Ill do Julian Wright, a pick, and Tyson Chandler all day.

The day that trade gets made is the day Amare is vapor - either by choice or by trade.

Chandler and Amare HATE each other from back in high school.

Hah! I called a local talk radio show this past Saturday and suggested NO as a destination for Shaq and was told that NO is in a salary dump because of negative revenue, so that is a no go. I was compared to Peter Vescey for spitballing....

I said that O'Neal for Chandler/Posey would be a deal I'd be all over.

Hell, NO would be happy with Paul/West/O'Neal for sure....

I certainly like the concept of this trade idea for Shaq. It's better than a lot I have heard in the past.

well, isn't Shaq's 20 M not enough to dump in 2010?
At least that's what I have read, NO is interested in his expiring contract

They are supposedly friends now. That was childish envy on Chandler's part.

Posey has too big of a contract. Daniels is expiring. I'd take Chandler/JulianWright/Daniels for Shaq/Tucker. And then Daniels/JRich for Camby and Davis if we get rid of Nash too.

With the condition Shaq showed this season, this is a championship formulae! And Peja will start killing everybody with the room he has for 3pts!

That rivalry is long gone. They were also teammates during their team USA tenure.

This team needs to rebuild. Shaq does not have a legit chance to win a title here so get what you can for him why he has any value. It also doesn't make sense to keep him if we are rebuilding.

I thought the best we would probably see is some sort of salary dump and crap in return for Shaq. If we can get Chandler out of the deal with some other guys we can turn around and dump....I am all for it. Even if we could add another bench player I am all for it in addition to Chandler I am all for it. It's better then getting Wallace or Damp.

Antonio Daniels is a solid point guard. He has a great A/TO ratio, can get to the foul line, and has great speed. He is also expiring.

Chandler/Daniels/2010 1st would be one of the only scenarios I would consider for shaq.

I'd still prefer to keep shaq I think though.

Wrong, wrong wrong. I've been begging for Chandler forever because he is the perfect foil for Amare, and is great at everything Amare is mediocre at. Chandler can guard the rim, get rebounds, and D up the opposing team's best big man. If we were somehow able to pull it off, it would make us championship contenders. Git'er done Steve...

Would it make us better? Yes. Champion contenders? No.

I really hope we acquire young pieces when we sell off even if it is only upside players instead of vets in a vain attempt to keep things going.

3 years ago, I was pulling for Marion for Chandler sign and trade when the latter was restricted FA. I was hated on this board as Marion-hater.:D We might have had won a championship by now, had we done that, as athletic SF are a lot easier to come by.
But now it's too late to be contender even with Chandler and with a more suitable replacement for Marion in Hill, as Nash aged too quickly and the league has caught up on how to expose him, at least the good teams that matter in playoffs. A team with Nash as the best player has little more than entertainment value for Sarver's pocket.:mulli:

Completely overblown. There's always been a rilvary between the two, but I doubt Amare would be shipped out just because Chandler is on the same team.

In fact, this trade is perfect for Phoenix. Getting rid of Shaq lets Amare become the focus offensively. He'd probably bounce back to his 26/8 numbers from a few years ago. Chandler can do the dirty work. Rebound, block shots, actually defend the pick and roll. It would be a perfect match.
