IF.. Chandler comes in for O'Neal.

Suns pretty much get their Marion replacement, only a 7'1 version.
Marion brought finishing abilities to Nash's passes, also brought in rebounding and all-round defense.

With Chandler, you dont have the perimeter versatility of Marion, but you gain 5 inches! Athletism, rebounding, shot altering abilities either goes up or remains the same (when Marion was on the Suns).

Assuming Shaq for Chandler + someone, who would be best fit for us, Peja or one of the others mentioned and why? I'm not too familiar with the others from NO.

I would rather have Posey over Peja. Peja had a horrible horrible season was on my fantasy team so I pretty much kept track of him every day. He is damaged goods at this point and won't help us rebuild at all. But then again with the suns medical staff who knows what can happen. I don't think it is worth the risk though. Plus it would be funny to see Shaq and Peja on the same team.

Well, I've said for years that the two (types of) players Amare needs around him are Chauncey Billups and Tyson Chandler. I would love having Tyson, despite the injuries and bad year he had this season.

The only thing I hate about topics like these is when they get your hopes up so much, Antonio Daniels and Tyson Chandler for Shaq would be awesome for both sides. GET IT DONE!

It does look good for both sides. I'm all for it. :)

I'm unsure what filler would be best for us. A 1st round pick or Posey would be great. If we get Antonio Daniels I want him to be at the end of the bench far behind Dragic. I'd rather grab a good point guard in the draft and get Posey or a wing player with defense though.

When can we start making trades?

not sure if they are willing to trade Posey though, he is the main contributor off the bench. Like u said, if we get Daniels he must not take away Goran's PT.
Another possibility could be Mo Pete. We can give him another chance to prove himself and see if he can replace Barnes's role.

According to Collective Bargaining Agreement:

Chandler + Peterson, does NOT work.
Chandler + Posey, does NOT work
Chandler + Daniels, does NOT work

Chandler + Peja, works. Also, it does reduce NO's payroll by 2-3M. Consider it from NO's side, this is the only thing they should accept.

sure those trades work.

$11.85 + $6 = almost $18mil. a difference of just over $2mil....which is well within the trade rules.

$11.85 + $14.2 = just about $26mil....a difference of about $5mil

dont see how you can see a adding Peja in instead of Posey/Daniels/Peterson....when the difference in salaries is MORE with Peja

Also New Orleans should add their pick.

They lost their chance to get under the luxury tax next season when the Chandler-Wilcox trade failed this season.
Their only chance now is to get a large expiring contract so they get cap relief in 2010.

This way they get the more valueable player and get out of Chandler's contract a year earlier.

That's even more true if the Suns took Posey or Peterson as filler. Posey has 3 years left and Peterson 2 years.

Shaq for Chandler, Daniels and #21.

i'd say the only way NO agrees to adding a pick is if we take Peterson. Daniels is an expiring which they would want to hold onto. taking Peterson's extra year is worth adding a pick. taking back an expiring is not worth them adding a first rounder IMO.

Sign me up for Chandler, #21 plus another player for Shaq.

I like this trade no matter who you fill in for us.

Nash can get the ball to TC just as well as CP3 could.

Amare can go back to having 90 touches a night.

our defense on the P&R and interior improves.

with the suns trainers TC will play 82 games for the rest of his life

maybe we can do what the knicks did to us..."oh whats this his back is in REAAAAALLLY bad shape, you better throw in a first rounder too" (qrich trade)

Id still like us to address SG, either trade JR or LB for someone who can play some serious D.

If we are going to keep playing around nash we HAVE to have better defense at all the other spots. steves D becomes alot less noticable if you have the other four playing good defense around him IE 2004-2007

The Hornets may want to dump Posey. No idea about salary, but Shaq for Chandler/Posey.

Nash/Dragic
Jrich/Barbosa
Hill/Dudley/Posey
Amare/Lou
Chandler/Lopez

I would roll with this next year.

Lopez showed some lift the last few games of this season, hopefully he can improve into next season. I think he could be a solid backup center, also Dragic is improving. With a year of experience and a renewed confidence I think he could be a solid backup to nash, maybe even taking a few of his minutes.

Also, like the previous post said I would try and trade Jrich for a defensive minded 2 guard. A young Raja would be a perfect fit. Let's see if Amare can be the go-to guy that he wants to be.

Posey has 3 years left at 6 million $ plus per season.

No way the Suns take Chandlers and Poseys for an expiring Shaq without getting extra compensation like draft picks.

You know why I don't do it? Shaq has been the most consistent player on this team the entire season and thats fact, my bias isn't a factor in that.

I firmly believe you have Gentry from the beginning with a healthy core of Nash, Stoudemire and O'Neal with good complementary players and this team is right back in the thick of things in the West.

Resign Hill, don't bring back Barnes, keep Richardson, Barbosa, Amundson, Dudley.

Draft a good defensive minded player and let things play out.

If all this fails, Nash and Shaq are both off the books soon...

The Suns sucked this year. If they are the same team next year, they will suck even more.
