I like it. Most people think of J-Will as the "White chocolate" from Sacramento Kings. Fact is that he changed his game a lot under Hubie Brown and that he was a starter for the Heat when they won the championship.

I realize he is no Steve Nash, but this guy can play the role of a backup point to allow Nash to play no more than 30-32 minutes per game.

I think J-Will's flaws are over emphasized. I would be completely content with him as a backup. His only issues in my mind are bad shooting and sub par defense, but his defense has improved under Riley, and everyone's shooting improves when they move to phoenix.

He's not near the same player he was, but he would be an ok backup for Nash if Dragic doesn't come over. This might work out well. But, his knees are very delicate.

Shaq's pull used to be strong enough to attract Kaa Mahlone and GP, now its been reduced to being rejected by the likes of Tyrone Friggin Lue.....TWICE

Malone and GP had made big money over their careers. Lue has not and took a deal for more than twice what the Suns offered. I'm not sure they are comparable.

I think Shaq's support would make a difference if the money is close. I suspect J-Will is going to get a lot more than Vet Min; but if I'm wrong then "maybe."

Change in subject: Wilks does not appare to be much of a prospect as a PG since he has a career assist level of under 1 assist per game. Last year he played in only 15 games with three teams for 2.7 ppg.

Clearly the hope of getting Dragic is effecting not only the Suns but also the guys they are talking to.

Waiting Dragic doesn't effect Kerr/Sarver at all. With or without Dragic, we still need to add a veteran PG. Right now we have not even one true PG beside Nash.

And, with or without Dragic, veteran minimal is all Kerr & Sarvar willing to offer. We r over the tax threshold ...

If money is all it matters, signing of Jwill is very doubtful ... Unless we successfully reduce our payroll by trading Diaw or Barbosa ...

What's more interesting as I view it, Shaq cannot pull a player to the Suns for the minimum and he cannot persuade the Suns FO to pay more than the minimum for a player he wants. This is not a knock on Shaq because he is on the downside of his career and he has the Championships to show for it. It just shows, more or less, his slide from grace. Even the referees do not allow him to play his style of game anymore.

I say give Shaq the player he wants, Jason Williams, if the Dragic situation cannot be resolved... soon. Actually I would prefer to have both players to backup Nash but that is probably wishful thinking.

I'd be happy with this signing, he averaged over 8 points and 4 rebounds in 28 minutes last year, obviously he won't be playing that many minutes in Phoenix, but he's still productive and would make a good back up. In an ideal world I hope the Suns sign him and Dragic, as I wouldn't be super comfortable with Dragic being the only back up right now. With Nash and Williams ahead of him on the roster, Dragic could be in a similar situation to Nash was when he first came to the Suns, backing up two quality guys and learning, it certainly can't hurt.

He better be as the list continues to dwindle. :D

I wish the Suns would hear some good news about Dragic. I can't believe the Suns are going into their 5th season without an adequate PG to backup Nash. This is getting bizarre.

Shaq's "wants" aside, JWill may not be all that eager to play with him again anywhere. After he left Miami his comments about the team, the coach, and his ex-teammates were all pretty negative, as usual.

I can't argue with that. It is beginning to seem the Suns have put all their eggs in one basket... Dragic. If he doesn't come over, the Suns will be sifting through the leftovers for anything that resembles a PG.

Thats the scary thing. And then we might have to just make a rush decision to sign two players. I just think that Nash needs to have a backup PG who he would feel comfortable handing the reins over to. I think J-Will might be the best option because he does have a ton of experience, and experience is very valuable.

Actually I was concerned that Shaq would veto Williams, so this is at least a positive for Jason Williams. But whether it will influence Williams is an entirely different story.

Both Shaq and J-Will played well in the 2005-06 playoffs. Shaq averaged 18.4 ppg on 61.2% shooting and Williams had 3.9 apg (Wade made most of the assists at 5.7 apg).

I think the Suns are in a catch-22 situation here. If the Suns sign J-Will first, I think it becomes less likely Dragic comes over this season. Thus the Suns need the Dragic situation to play out soon.
