Wow. This explains alot about last season and the events of this offseason. What a joke of a teammate Shaq is. Good riddance.

This is one of the more bizarre stories I have read in awhile.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2009/08/19/20090819spt-boivinshaq.html

The most entertaining part of the new reality show "Shaq Vs."?

The credits.

Tuesday's debut, which featured Shaquille O'Neal taking on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in football, was a tad long and a bit contrived. It became decidedly more interesting, though, when the credits rolled and this name popped up as one of the executive producers:

Steve Nash.

There's an interesting back story here, one that explains in part some of the fractured relationships that defined the Suns' struggles last season.

O'Neal stole Nash's idea.

I guess the "Team Killer" tag might be appropriate for Shaq. I would love to see him ruin the cavs. You know Lebron's ego is huge anyways, so we'll see how shaq likes it.

I'm still "Going out on a limb" and saying it will be Lakers vs Cavs in the finals. Stern HAS to have it this way. Imagine the story lines like SHAQ and KOBE go for title #5 and of course Kobe Lebron.

This is nothing new. It's the same guy who quit on his teammates and coaches in Miami. Bullied Kobe Bryant in LA because he felt threatened by a kid. Openly lobbied to get traded last year despite the Suns still being in playoff contention. Shaq's a good quote though so not surprisingly he gets a free pass.

This development is of course completely pathetic.

I'm just glad the Suns got rid of O'Neal before he did even more damage. I was really dreading this season as soon as the Marion/O'Neal trade was made. Now this year will still be disappointing, but at least the long-term damage should be controlled.

Interesting, though Nash did get E.P. credit and probably a pretty chunk of coin, so he can't be too pissed.

I'd be curious to hear Nash's comments on whether Shaq stole the idea or if Nash in fact is involved in its production.

Certainly Steve Nash is not going to take on football players -- American football, that is.

I think Nash hiring an entertainment lawyer is all the comment we need. (Oh, let me guess, you didn't read the article before reflexively supporting the "true center" over the "overcontrolling point guard"?)

In a throwing competition? Why not?

Nash's idea but Shaq has the personality for this compared to Nash.

I was pulling for Shaq to win these, but now, not so much.

Nash has a ton of personality, he just doesnt draw media attention like Shaq does (on purpose).

Im sure Nash could give a damn about making money off what Shaq is doing. The point it it was his idea and he wanted to do it.

If I had Nash's money I wouldnt carea bout getting paid, but I would care that someone took my idea of a great show on TV.

I think Nash has ambitions towards becoming a producer so I don't think this idea was a one trick pony.

Didn't we recently have a thread partially devoted to bashing Paola Boivin?
Yes we did. Here it is: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=135105

There's a lot of speculative garbage in that article and that's nothing new from Boivin. Additionally, she's a Kobe lover so add that to a list of her ulterior motives which includes sensationalizing a story to sell advertising.

Just another "story" to stir up the folks who love to get angry at things.

Yeah, I think Nash would have done better in pretty much any of the competitions. Shaq is really athletic but I doubt he has a high skill level in any sport other than basketball.

Any other source corroborates this story? And If some guy wants to sue shaq that he stole the story from his book, is it safe to say Nash stole it from the dude.

I'm confused as to why you would need another source besides the AZ Republic to corroborate the story. its not like its a blog or some unfounded site trying to report it.

but anyways....about the book. they book deals with oddball sports questions and asks authorities within the sports world to weigh in. Such as:

• Could an average guy start in the WNBA?
• Would sumo wrestlers make great NFL linemen?
• How easy is it for pro athletes to get laid?
• How good are pro golfers at miniature golf?
• Do pro athletes really play drunk or high?
• How would a fan hit against a major league pitcher?

All in all, i could see how this reality show idea could fall into the realm of this book.....but being relevant for a lawsuit?

you can watch the episode on Hulu. Nash is indeed credited as an Executive Producer.

Shaq for Marion, that's still a great move even though on Shaq's part the team didn't work out well. Porter didn't know how to make it work personell wise. Nash wasn't willing to play a reduced role. The rest is history.

Ben Roethlisberger beat Shaq in HORSE. What a boring and corny show.

Where is Cobbler?

What a loser Shaq is.

All the Laker fans warned us that eventually Shaq would fracture the team. Nash had to get a lawyer just to be able to get some credit for his own idea.

Funny part is it's the same premise as "Dhani Tackles The Globe" which is a much better show.

Stealing someone's idea and fracturing the team are two different things. By comments made by all the other players....Shaq was a model teammate. Guys loved having him around. You can see just by the videos posted on Suns.com there was a general "like" for the guy.

Also, let's not get carried away with this he stole my idea crap. It's not like this concept was original to Nash. As you stated this idea was already out there (and agreed...done better) by Dhani Jones. So if you want to get technical about it...Nash doesn't deserve credit either. It should be the person who came up with the Dhani show.

P.S. This team started fracturing back when Marion was still here. Shaq was the bandaid that couldn't cover the entire wound.

Not only that, no one would have wanted us to get Marion go for cap space alone like we did for Shaq.

...and it's not like Shaq has a history of butting heads and burning bridges with teamates, coaches, and management. :biglaugh:
He's even upped his game this year by courting the Lakers for the 2010 season before he even starts his 2009 season with the Cavs. Shaq is a douche.

Shaq..... I told you so!!!!!
