Andrew....... paging Andrew.

:D

LMAO

I was thinking the same thing.

Somewhere on a Cleveland MB, Andrew is vigorously defending Shaq.

As we all know Shaq's pick-and-roll defense is horrible. When he was younger and more agile it wasn't as glaring and his offensive production more than made up for it. But now opposing teams are exploiting his weakness, and unfortunately his back-up, Ilgauskas is just as bad at defending the pick-and-roll. Playing both Shaq and Ilgauskas together is a disaster.

The Cavs need another consistent scorer to take pressure off Lebron. I think Williams had a career year last year and I doubt he repeats it.

According to Hoopshype, the Cavs are interested in in Stephen Jackson. What if we offer them Richardson for Ilguaskas straight-up. Obviously, dropping Richardson's contract would be a plus and it would allow Barbosa to move into the starting spot where he averages over 20 points a game. Ilgauskas gives us a true center that can board and body up bigger players. He also has a sweet outside jumper which would be perfect to work the pick-and-pop with Nash. Ilgauskas's contract expires after this year which gives us the all important flexibility and opportunity to sign a big name this summer. Losing Richardson would makes us thin at the 2 spot, but finding a serviceable shooting guard on the market is much easier than a center. Richardson gives Cleveland a consistent and potent scoring threat to take pressure off Lebron.

It's still early. Give them some time to gel together. Shaq and Wade didn't look all that hot together out of the gate in Miami and Shaq was a terrible pick and roll defender then too.

I wanna hear from that dude who supported the Cavs aswell as the Suns.

I wonder if he's looking at a third team right now...

doh... 0-2 start into the season, doesn't look good right now. Shaq with a +/- of -25.

Are they handing out titles in October now?

I mean... Shaq isn't the type of player to take it easy for the first 50 games of the regular season, turn it up about a month after the All-Star break and have things going good by the time the playoffs hit. :sarcasm:

Obviously its early but I could very easily seeing this move blow up in their face setting off a chain reaction of Lebron leaving. Shaq just doesn't seem like a good fit with that team with as much as he needs the ball. And he looks doughy again.

On the other hand, while his stats were nice, damn I am glad he is gone. The whole team just looks like they lifted a weight off their shoulders.

So we traded:

Shaq
Andrew

for

$$$$$

Anyone unhappy with that one? ;)

Shaq is the second best C on the Cavs and should not be starting.

Sounds pretty good. Maybe a three way trade involving GSW, PHX, and CLE, with a few draft picks thrown about.. (Hopefully not by the Suns)

Even with Ilgauskas' expiring contract this year, does that mean we can be a player in this off-season's free agency?.. Let Ilgauskas walk and sign someone like JoJo?

Igauskas would cause us spacing problems similar to Shaq. Let's see if its broke before we try to fix it.

I disagree. Shaq caused spacing problems becuase he can't shoot. Big Z like most Euro bigs can step out 10-15 feet and shoot, he can do the pick and pop like Kurt Thomas did. I think he'd be a good fit here, he'd be the trailer on fast breaks yet not be quite the anchor or space hog that Shaq was.

Id do JRich for Big Z in a second just for the flexibility it would offer. Find a way to get one of Clevelands picks (hell Ill even be happy w/ a 2nd rounder) and Im even more sold.

I never bought the spacing argument. When people say that the implication is that you can't get paint points or it's impacting this teams ability to score in the lane. That was not the case. This team was good in the paint, led the league in FG% and also still was one of the best offensive teams in the league.

So I don't see how Shaq impacted this team with his spacing one bit. If anything, he might have impacted Amare's space to roam the paint but it's not like Amare can grab enough rebounds to matter anyway. Not to mention that before Amare went down last year....Shaq's spacing didn't seem to be a problem when Amare was going off.

^Its not that Shaq made it so the Suns couldnt score in the paint, obviously thats where Shaq scored, it just made it different. With Shaq in if the Suns ran the Nash/Amare P&R Amare would 'roll' right into Shaq thus making it less effective. Or Shaqs man could come over to guard Amare and Amare would have to be lighting quick to dump it to an open Shaq. It works better if you have a big like KT or Big Z who can pop out to the elbow or baseline 10-15 feet, get out of the 'rollers' way and keep his own defender honest. Back in the Stockton/Malone days they always had another big like Ostertag who could step out a few feet and shoot.
