So, the kid gets drafted by the hags to play with his brother. Good for him!

One thing I have been noticing about the draft this year. There are several guys in this draft who are just legit good kids. Shaqem, Saquon, Lamar.... I wanted to draft each of them. They are really good kids. In todays world with the DWash's, the players caveman dragging their baby mommas down hallways, women beating, drug pushing, automatic weapons in the trunk DUI gettin fools... its really nice to see some nice guys come into the league.

we didnt have a spot on the team for Shaqem...unless it was Justin Bethels old position of full time ST star. But I would have been willing to draft him just for that.

My mom is 74 and she really isnt into football. But she caught wind of Griffins story a few days ago. She sat and watched the first three rounds with me always wondering when he was going to be picked. I told her he was late fourth early fifth round guy.

Last night I told her not to sweat the draft since I dont usually watch day three. So she could watch whatever she wanted today. I got up at 930 to find dear old mom watching the draft....waiting to see Shaqem Griffin get drafted. The poor old gal got giddy and nearly cried when he was picked by Seattle and got to play with his brother, lol. Then she went to take a nap.

Marketing. The NFL is good at it.

Same with the Edmunds brothers. Listening to their interviews, both were well spoken and seemed like good kids themselves. That's a credit to their father.

They had a brief bio about him on one of the pre-draft shows. His parents and his brother were major parts in keeping him on track. Inspirational story not just about him but for his family. Not only is he a fantastic athlete but he has the personality that lights up the room. Your Mom was right on to be up early and cheering for him.

Plenty of athletes have had great careers playing with a disability. Jim Abbott, born without a right hand, played for 10 years in the bigs and threw a no-hitter. Look for Shaqem to have continued success (when he's not playing the Cards, LOL).

(Oaken1: Head over to the Thrift store and buy yourself a second TV for your Mom's room. Then she won't have to fight you for the remote control.)

Man I wanted the Cardinals to draft this kid. I’ve been pimping him since December. Going to regret not taking him in the 4th round.

Great story. Hopefully it ends for the Hags like the Morris twin experiment ended for the Suns.

They have him and his family on NFLN right now interviewing him. Sounds like a solid guy with a good family. His brother plays for the Hawks also

Shaquill is one of my favorites and his family was pretty great. This is from right after Shaquill was drafted last year.

Great to see Shaquem make his gear official

Luv the story, luv the man and the chance he will have, but the way the media is, I will be yelling at them to shut up already by the time we play Seattle... a team which will relish this as a nice guise for a bad character Carroll coached team

Nice story but I'm glad the Cards passed on him. He fills no need on the team and the Cards have enough undersized guys already.

Hope the best for him, he sounds like a great kid.

It's a great story, And I'll be rooting for the kid personally (as his team hopefully fails miserably)

But I couldn't help but feel the entire crew at NFLN was patronizing the kid... One of the talking heads said at the end of day 1... "I have no doubt he'll be drafted by the end of the second round"

I couldn't watch NFL Network for longer than 30 minutes without someone almost begging a GM to draft him.... The kid got where he is... with a crap-load of hard work and determination, I felt like they were throwing a pity-party for him... And he sure as hell didn't need it.
