91 Shaughnessy, Matt, DE/OLB, 6-5, 285, 26, 5, Wisconsin. Tenacious, physical run defender who flashes an explosive burst to the ball. Has pass rushing ability both from the edge and from the inside---but has been inconsistent in his production. Has battled through some injuries in the past and needs to stay healthy. His versatility is extremely attractive, as he can be used in a variety of different ways. This is a big year for Shaughnessy, especially if he can prove he's a pass rushing threat.

7 Shaw, Tyler, WR, 6-0, 180, 23, UCFA, NW Missouri St. Track and field star who had an outstanding 4 year career at NW Missouri St.: 166/3,021/18.2/32 tds. Plays fast and displays very good leaping ability and hands. According to Shaw, the Cardinals told him during the 7th round of the draft that they were deciding between him and TE D.C. Jefferson. When the Cardinals went with Jefferson, as soon as the draft was over, they immediately called Shaw and offered him a contract. This kid fits the Donnie Avery/T.Y. Hilton mode, because of his speed and his ability to stretch the defense. He ran a 4.4 40 on his pro day.

5 Stanton, Drew, QB, 6-3, 243, 29, 7, Michigan St. Big, strong-armed and surprisingly mobile QB who played under BA last year in Indy. Has proven to be a capable and well-prepared backup, but wants his chance to start. Has a great attitude and a hunger to succeed. Should learn a lot from Carson Palmer and should continue to make strides in exhibiting a command of BA's offense.

19 Swope, Ryan, WR, 6-0, 205, 22, D-Rd. 6, Texas A&M. The all-time receiving leader in Texas A&M history. His career numbers: 252/3,117/12.4/24 tds. Shows surprising speed (ran a 4.3 at the Combine), very good concentration, hands and RAC ability. Take a licking and keeps on ticking. Very tough. Concerns about concussions may have led to him being available in the 6th round---but like Wes Welker coming into the draft, Swope merited a 3rd round pick at the very least. This kid is one tough hombre who manifests a tremendous will to win. Plays with attitude. Goes all-out every play. Won't go down easy. Will break tackles.

26 Taylor, Curtis, S, 6-2, 212, 27, 3, LSU. Was drafted by the 49ers in the 7th round (#219) of the 2009 draft. Was mostly on and off the practice squad---but managed to record 7 tackles in limited action. Was cut in 2011, but was re-signed to the 49ers' practice squad late last year. Was a two-year starter at LSU, finishing his career at LSU with 112 tackles, 2 sacks and 5 interceptions. Helped lead LSU to the 2008 NCAA Championship. Has very good size and strength.

I'm hoping Swope can be what none of our other WRS are. A guy who can get open right away so Palmer doesn't always have to force the ball to Fitz or Floyd and hope they can make one of their amazing catches.

Typo on Swope's draft round, was actually a 6th round pick. Very excited to see how BA gets Swope involved....that kid is very exciting to watch.

Thanks for the effort Mitch!
