This happened because team RG blows. Can we atleast agree on that??

Yes that was a piss poor approach IMO. I dont think Graves blows though. Some things he does blows.

Can we at least agree on this:

NO WAY IN HELL Fitz should make 4 times the money Q does.

I think it's brilliant. The ink's not even dry and they've got Boldin on the line for an extension? That shows respect, and much love, IMO.

Good job, Mr. Graves. Kudos. (now get him extended!)

You make ZERO SENSE WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think before you type? You are complaining about monster contracts, yet you praise the team for giving a WR 11 mill per year. I never said we needed to pay anyone big money, so go put words in someone else's mouth. I really dont have the time to waste on you.

I'm saying that the team doesn't have to pay everyone monster contracts. I am happy that Fitz is still a Cardinal. I think he was greatly overpaid, but that's the only thing Rod Graves could do. Certain players deserve to get paid more than others. I am sure you can understand this. You are saying we are going to have to pay five or so players huge money in order to keep them. Do you want them or not? That's what its going to come down to. If that's what it takes to keep them, then that's what we have to do.

And I apologize for wasting your precious message board time. You are obviously a much busier man than I. Get a grip man.

I bet the Patriots and Colts would somewhat disagree with that. Two teams that are much better at the pass that have learned to be good at the run. Teams that are one dimensional rarely win anything. As for not being able to retain people, the Colts have managed to keep Manning, Wayne, Harrison and Freeney to massive deals. Some of their OLinemen are making good money too. The Patriots have kept 3-4 key players and recycled everyone else. Good teams pick a few guys to keep together and have to rotate the rest, it is a fact of football. Bad teams like the Cardinals historically were, let their best players go and hope for the best with a constant youth movement.
The Pats and Colts cant run?? The Colts are a great running team and have been for the last ten years/since they became successfull. Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James Joseph Addai?? The Pats didn't run as much this year because they had a great bang-for-their-buck WR corps. That doesn't mean that they cant. They have been successfull at running when they need to. Good teams do that.

You talk about being one dimensional, but that is what we are setting ourselves up to be IMO.

Are you RG??

You admit they are overpaid and say "well there was nothing else we could do". If it was that simple and thats how things were supposed to be done then anyone could be a GM.

I said "the Colts and Patriots are great passing teams that learned to become good at the run." I never said they couldn't run. You also didn't address the point that the Colts have comparable money in the passing game that we are going to have and still run well.

I agree with you that RG sucks. Unfortunately we are currently stuck with him. I just want him to eff up as few things as possible while he is in this position. I'm not taking his side, I just want to see Q, AW and Dansby in Cards uni's for their careers.

Actually you are wrong. I know exactly who I am thinking about. I am think of D-Dock who said last year in an interview that he is looking for the team to shred his contract because he deserves it.

Get your facts straight and get back to me. This isn't something I am pulling out of my ..., this is common knowledge that someone like you who should atleast pretend to know.

The problem is that I do not agree. Neither one of those teams were great passing teams who learned to run. In fact the opposite is closer to the truth.

i disagree with your assessment and personally you come off as a smug little man. If you think you know everything.....maybe you should be running this team......oh wait, youre not because youre not qualified

be happy that Fitz signed and go to bed. You cant sign/extend everyone to perfect deals.....thats the NFL and sadly, why there will be a lockout in the not too distant future

Regardless, they are teams that are considered passing teams around the league and pass more than they run percentage wise. That is a fact. Yet they have won Superbowls in recent history, so your premise that running teams win is based on a fallacy. You can't call them running teams if they pass more than they run. You can say they are good at the run and I would agree. All that it proves is that you have to be good at all aspects of the game to win. Before you say we can't do that with what our WRs are getting paid I want you to explain how the Colts do it paying Harrison and Wayne top dollar along with Manning.

Much like most posters here I have never liked you and as long as my brain continues functioning properly I never will. I will do what most everyone else does and put you on the ignore list. No lost sleep here.

OK, First off Q is gonna walk IMO the cards are not going to put over 25 mil in their #1 and 2 WR. Q is going to want at least 2 or 3 more a year than Fitz.

The Cards are not the Colts or Pats, they have MVP QB's Leinart hasnt even made a Pro Bowl yet. They also have 5 times the OL that we have.

None of this money is going to extend players IMO, they are focusing on filling the roster now. We have to hit HRs on all of our draft picks bc all of them will be making the final roster.

The Pats were better when they ran more, and the Colts won a SB because their RBs played great. They had previously won a bunch of games with great WRs but no SBs.

Also, the Colts have a great GM who keeps his cap in check. We do not. Oh, and RW and MH are not making near what Fitz is now and what Q will be soon.

Agreed the Colts have a much better GM. MH and RW's contracts you have to remember were signed when the cap was below 100 million so to an extent you have to adjust for the inflation of the cap. The Colts drafted a rookie RB and won the Superbowl, who's to say we can't win one with a RB on his rookie contract? The problem with investing a lot of money in the running game is that RB is the most fragile position and RBs usually peak younger than any other position which is exactly why Edge is not a Colt anymore. IMO a good team will invest more money in its passing game, but will focus more of its drafting on RB and OL.

Good running teams dont typically spend big $ on their runningbacks. They stock up on a good O-line, which is what I would prefer. We have different opinions and wants here. Let that be that because IMO there is no common ground here.

For the most part I agree we should focus on the running game through the OLine. Fitz costing us Faneca will sting all year, but I think you would agree that if we completely sacrifice the WR position to be good at running we won't be successful either. If you look back almost every team that won the SB had at least 1 WR who had over 1000 yards that season in recent history. Do we need 2? No. Can we afford 2? If we follow the Colts model then maybe. Will it happen with Graves as GM? No.
