Should Ayton be Traded?

Should the Suns trade Ayton?

  • Yes, trade him ASAP

  • Maybe, depends on who is hired as coach

  • No, let's see what he can do without Monty

If the Suns can't get what they want for Ayton now, they should hold off. I think they can do better than Kennard and Adams.
Maybe. That's not terrible though. Adams would do everything we need at center. Kennard is a very good spot up 3 pt shooter.

I wouldn't hate that. In fact I would probably do it if that's a real offer.

Huh, Espo just said we had a backup deal for John Collins in exchange for CP3.

Atlanta needs to sweeten the pot, add Capela and we'll take Collins and Clint for Ayton.

Capela
Collins
Durant
Beal
Booker

Payne
Craig
Landale
Spare parts

That's a title contender.
Capela and Bey would work. Bey is a wing who shoots a high percentage from 3. The Suns reportedly liked him during the draft process.

I read a tweet about how Monty didn’t want to coach Jae and Ayton. With Monty gone I feel a little better keeping Ayton. Heck if we can bring Jae back on a deal that would be awesome.

It's a good point. Frank Vogel might be able to work through some of the issues Monty had with Ayton.

Aytons lack of heart or aggression is his not Monty’s! Imo we know who Ayton is at this point to expect him to all of a sudden want to be a fourth option just play D and rebound machine is pure fantasy!

If we only have a small window - Ayton aint in it - can't waste an entire season when we know who Ayton is and how he responds - and besides - we have Beal now - that's 3 different cats averaging 20+ so we don't even need Ayton - what we need a scrapper in the paint - a rebounding machine - and someone that doesn't **** themselves when the going gets rough

Found this on the RM board:
"Flex basically discusses how surprising it was to get Beal for almost nothing! ...
- Talks about how they currently don't have enough depth But the Suns have a few specific plans in place to address depth through an Ayton trade.
- He says that there are currently at least 5-7 teams interested in Ayton.
- they already have a deal already lined up for Ayton to address depth, etc. Mentions these teams specifically:
Indiana, Atlanta, Portland, Boston, Orlando, a multitude of teams etc.
- Talks about how the whole "lean interest" in Ayton narrative is totally incorrect/ untrue!!..."

If true, the outlook is quite bright.

I thought Portland stated they weren't interested in Ayton

I only caught the back end of one of the segments today, but they were saying with Ayton’s salary, the CBA rules coming that if they don’t trade Ayton now it gets harder to move him later and that will come with less flexibility. They said if we don’t move him now he is likely to finish out most of his contract here.

That’s about all I heard but without context?!

I believe Gambo confirmed Portland is not interested. Take everything Flex says with a heaping grain of salt. This is the same guy that said the Suns were in fact paying Chris Paul his 30 million dollar contract. Gambo shut that down too as untrue.

Yeah, done with Flex. He was early on the Paul trade, he also correctly predicted the return date for some injured players. Other than that, he's been flat our wrong at every single prognostication the rest of the way.

IMO, it's clear that he knows someone on the training staff or a team doctor. They got asked to evaluate Paul, prior to the trade, and they've had more specific info on current injuries.

Other than that one source, Flex don't know nuthin. With the overhaul of the organization, I wouldn't be surprised if his one source isn't even there anymore.

Flex was lucky the first few times, plain and simple.

Totally agree- once you take Ayton out of the scoring mix he will drift. The only way to hopefully keep him engaged on defense is to keep him engaged on the offensive end which is not what this team needs.

This team needs a player like Adam’s who knows his role and likes to mix it up down low.

Yet what is even perplexing about him knowing someone on the medical/training staff? He swore that Booker's nose wasn't broken. He also announced Booker had been cleared from Covid and that very night, announcers on the national game said the league office had not cleared him yet. So....there is that.
