It's not just the prospects the Dbacks are giving away to get these rentals. Its also all the prospects they could have got by selling off AJ and Corbin etc...

You're talking about 12-15 legit prospects that could have started the rebuild. The Marlins were masters of this for a while.

Yeah, but the Marlins never did it while they were in a playoff chase.

True but they did it right after they won the World Series one time.

I was holding out hope Cashman would be desperate enough to trade Sheffield for Corbin but that’s out with the Happ acquisition. I guess I’m all in now.

Who says AJ is gone next year? There's more of a chance he stays then leaves.

The only thing that will prevent AJ from getting offered 25 million a year is his injury history.

My guess is he signs for something like 4-5 years, 95-120 million. And probably not with us...

Yep. If he stays healthy, hard to imagine the market would be anything less than $20 Million a season for AJ...

If ARZ is not trading Corbin or Pollock they better make them QO's so that they are able to get high draft picks. I don't think the system of teams forfeiting 1st round picks for signing QO guys still applies does it? If it is that won't deter teams like NY or BOS because their picks will be in the last part of the round. ARZ can't have what happened last year where they spoil a chance to improve the farm by whiffing on their first rounder especially when there were still some legit guys available worthy of the #26 pick.

I agree about whiffing but they do get an extra first rounder next year as comp.

What in the world would give you that impression? The odds are virtually overwhelming that he walks away... ☹️

It’s too early to know what the payroll will look like with so many guys due arbitration; Lamb, Ray, Souza, Owings, Ahmed, Archie... Giving Avila a two year deal hurts. Goldy, Tomas and Marte get raises so I don’t know how they can make a long term commitment to Pollock without closing the door on a future Goldy extension.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they look at a Greinke/Felix cash dump swap.
