but key defensive regulars Abraham, Darnell Dockett and Calais Campbell aren't getting any younger.

Good article even though he acts like a 27 year old Campbell is getting long in the tooth and should be muttered in the same sentence as DD and old man Abraham age wise.

As soon as Doug Farrar got through writing on the Cardinals , he starts writing on the Falcons , and after that it's on to the Bears ect. ect. ect. ect. , a man has to make a living some way .

outside of lumping Campbell in with Abraham/Dockett, I'd say that article is pretty fair.

Agreed.

Can Bowles find a way to minimize the losses of DWaste & Los? The Cards finished 12th in Offense by the end of the year but was that in yardage or points? If the O becomes a top ten O from the get go then Minter and Foote will be enough to compensate for the aforementioned losses at ILBer.

Yeah, I agree. I like Farrar; he does good work for the MMQB, as well.

The interesting note is how dependent Bowles was last season on the ILBs for pass coverage, and I think that's true. We were lucky to be able to have essentially a nickel package on the field while still being able to play three down linemen and four linebackers, because both Washington and Dansby could cover like a strong safety.

Now, we don't have a single linebacker whom I would be comfortable letting roam in coverage. I'm not confident that Foote at this point in his career or Minter are better coverage linebackers than Sam Acho.

And...

...if we'd retained Dansby he probably would have lumped him in with the, "not getting any younger crowd". I don't have a problem with the article as a whole, but doesn't everyone have a problem with aging stars? So in conclusion...:moon:

The plan has to be to use more S or CB to play that role, especially Cro. I think the additions of Cro and Buchanon should at least help a bit.

agreed. We'll still be short Mathieu come week 1. But I think Johnson has improved enough over the last few years to be a formidable FS. Bucannon was our ideal SS in that draft. Trading down, still getting him, and picking up Brown in the process. At first I scratched my head about Brown Considering we just signed Ginn. But BA outright loves speed receivers that can take the top off a defense. And this kid is VERY raw. BA can mold him from the ground up. Veldheer was a steal, definitely zero disagreements there. Picking up a young legitimate franchise LT in free agency was a huge score, I don't think Keim thought would happen until 2015 when he was able to spend more. He said himself that we wouldn't be where he wanted in terms of contracts and finances until 2015. And his point is hard to argue with all of the dead money we have from Graves foolishly overspending on under-talented players at the end of his tenure here. Lucky for us, Keim is the exact opposite, able to pick up big talent like Veldheer, Dansby, Cromartie, Abraham, for little money. Keim has proven to be a great GM already. Graves was awful at the end. But he also built our SB team. I don't know if it was simply him reaching for too much at once at the end. But it was definitely time to part ways. And so far it's proven to be the right choice
