Firstly, half the players you think we should have signed the team probably doesn't even consider scheme fits. Half of what's left are cooked and you just don't know it yet. Do you think the Commanders released Jonathan Allen and paid Javon Kinlaw $15m per (just lol) because they think Allen is still Allen? His pass rush win rate has declined every year for the last 3 years and was below 10% for the first time last year.

To answer your first question. Yes. That’s exactly what free agency is. You target a major need and go after the player you want even if it means reasonably overpaying.
We don’t do that. We want a player . We try to get a player and then we settle for second or third choice for fiscal responsibility.
Sweat is a major anomaly but if the Eagles wanted him , he wouldn’t be here.

Yep. Absolutely correct. And like 90% of the so called experts picked the Falcons to win their division because of FA. When MO was hired, Michael was adamant that they would take an entirely different approach and be mostly a draft and develop team. So far, that has been the case. Sometimes, I laugh when people get upset when they’re doing exactly what they said they would do. Sometimes you just have to listen to what comes out of people’s mouths.

Yes, However they had NOTHING at the Qb position. They took a chance to get better, and for a while they were. Reports have come out that he injured his arm and wasn’t the same after that. There’s not one player acquisition that is an absolute guarantee to work out.
That doesn’t mean you don’t try.

Maybe a better record, but possibly because they were in a weaker division. And, I don't think that they are in better shape (as of now) going into this season.

Milton was prized but I think Monti might have thought getting a DT in the first round was worth the risk since he wouldn't go over 100 mil.

Neither division was very good. But I'll correct myself... both teams were 8-9.

And, I don't think that they are in better shape (as of now) going into this season.

Why? They have a great young good core on offense with a young superstar at RB, a legit #1 WR and a good #2 WR and a solid TE and best of all, a promising young QB moving forward. We have a good aging RB, a great TE, an average at best #1 WR, no WR2 and a big fat question mark at QB.

There were lots of positive noises from Cards FO face holes about being aggressive and making moves, and so far with most of the good FA's accounted for, there has been very little progress at all made.

What outside of the acquisition of Sweat can people be happy about at this point? Retaining a bunch of depth players from a mid squad? The fact that the Cards were finalists for several good players?

It's the same song and dance every year with this team and fan base. People get excited thinking this is the year it changes, and it's Lucy with the football every time. Surely people had higher expectations with a boat load of cap space and after multiple awful years that the FO would at least attempt to improve the team.

Hell, if we lose White and Lopez and the only replacements are draft picks and Akeem Davis Gaither, we may not be any better than we were last year.

Considering the expectations and available cap space, that's a huge fail. The delusion that a guy like BJ Ojulari will be a "dominant" player, as expressed by the owner of the team is indicative of a team and FO that doesn't live in reality.

We need at least 3-4 Sweat style additions to consider this off season a success, and have the resources to make it happen.

Again, none of the Kool-aid crew has come up with any explanation as to how we're going to acquire the good starters necessary to become a real playoff contender. They also spent 165 million on contracts that first day. (and maybe more since then).

It also was a time with a relatively static cap. I think the strategies change with the times like anything else.

It begs the question, if they aren't even holding to the Patriot way, why should we?
