Wilcox is another low post all offense no defense no rebound player, the suns don't need him, he wouldn't fit in this offense with Amare. No chance this will ever happen, ever.
I fail to understand the ongoing infatuation with this very average player.

I think he showed a glimpse of what he can do playing for Seattle. I think his playing behind Brand and Kaman obscured his talent with the Clippers. Anyway, getting Wilcox for the Suns is highly improbable, but I do like his talent.

I for one like him. He would flourish in the starting line-up with Amare. 2 slashers and power dunkers. Him and Amare are about the same defensively. Wilcox blew up once he left the Clips in Seattle. I do believe we might be able to get him and a back-up point in a S&T with Seattle. We all know Marion is going to be traded either this summer or next. We can get more for him this summer though. With just a 2 team deal, which could probably be turned into a 3 or 4 team deal could look something like this.

Suns get:

Wilcox (S&T starting @ 7.75mil/5 years)
Lewis
Ridnour
Sene
2007 1st round pick

Seattle gets:
Marion
Barbosa
KT
Jones
2007 SUNS pick
Rights to Vujanic

That would save the Suns $6,701,975 this year to grab a couple extra players.

Next year the Suns save $8,654,061 (which can be used to sign Diaw and Ridnour to contract extensions. Lewis is due $10,129,870 next year if opts to stay, if he opts out that gives the Suns that extra money to go after free agents.

Free agents available next year include:

Nocioni
Lebron
Verejao
Josh Howard
Pietrus
Mihm
Cook
V. Carter
Mason
David West
Milicic
Collison

It's not that I am not mildly impressed with the time and effort put into creating this senario, but I would be pretty angry (PUT MILDLY) if they totally blew up the team again. Especailly this season and superduper especailly all for an average NBA player like Wilcox (going by the numbers).

Am I the only one who doubts whether Wilcox is worth all this love? He's a career backup on the Clippers who has a few good months on a terrible team in Seattle. Maybe he's going to be a real steal for somebody, but Gooden has put up a lot better numbers on a much better team and I'm not ready to break the bank to get him either.

It's funny how people were fairly acceptable of the possible Marion/Lewis trade rumor prior to the draft, now that I have put out a trade possibility to get better parts in a trade with Seattle, people start knocking the idea. It was simply a trade possibility. I personnaly would love to see Wilcox in a Suns uniform. Marion is bound to be traded. The Suns will get a lot better trade scenarios THIS year than next due to teams knowing the Suns will be, pretty much, desperate to rid themselves of his contract. This trade would get us a LOT of cap space over the next 2 years, PLUS get us a damn good back-up for Nash, who is young, get us a comparable SF as Marions replacement, Wilcox who I think would flourish here with Amare (just think if we had him if Amare can't go the full season), AND a project center that the Suns were linked to prior to the draft.

i personally would ship out Thomas + Barbosa and anything else we would need to (except for Atlanta's Pick) in order to net Wilcox + Ridnour. but that's HIGHLY unlikely.

I was for getting Ridnour in a trade from SEA but what do we do if we were to get him? Nash is signed for 4 more years and Ridnour is a starting PG not a back up.

Yes, if Ridnour came here, he would be a back-up. Yes, Nash is signed for 4 more years. If Ridnour was here, I think he would get anywhere from 15-25 minutes a night. If we had a serviceable back-up to Nash, the Suns wouldn't have as much of a drop-off when Nash is resting on the bench. Nash would be more serviceable for the whole year rather than being exhausted later in the year and playoffs. If we could get Ridnour, who is a lot like Nash in regards to his game, Nash would still be worth his contract in 3 years.

maybe it's b/c this trade proposal was one of the most ridiculous proposals i've ever seen and the entire seattle front office would shot, hung, stabbed, and then hung again by the friendly citizens of seattle if they even thought about doing such a dumb deal. just maybe.

How's that? The only difference in this trade proposal and the one rumored before the draft was taking Fortson out and putting Wilcox (since it's starting to look like they can't afford him) in for Seattle. For Phoenix it's adding Barbosa, Jones, rights to Vujanic.

The Suns can't afford to hand big money to a backup.

Wilcox isn't a savior. In fact, he's not even that useful, unless the Suns ship Amare and are casting around for a second-rate replacement.

lol... You are assuming we don't resign Diaw or Barbosa?

If we trade Thomas for Wilcox we are in the exact same luxury tax situation next season anyway.

Now I am convinced that you need some basic reading comprehension skills. I said that I assumed Sarver would not go over the luxury tax, not that we would not resign Diaw or Barbosa. I said that a S&T for Wilcox would make resigning Diaw difficult, and Barbosa next to impossible.

Do you understand that?
