I am not sure that he dissed Tillman. Listen, I love who Pat Tillman was but athletically he may have been average. What Simeon underestimated was heart. That is what Tillman was composed of. Focus, tenacity and above all he had the heart of a warrior. Simeon was pure athletic ability. He was a gifted and a natural pass rusher. Although, he left a lot to be desired against the run. I don't want him on this team. We need a player like Suggs.

From the Jim Rome Show in 2002, Simeon Rice on Pat Tillman leaving the NFL for the ARMY:

"He really wasn't good enough to start in the NFL, that's how bad it is in Arizona."

"Maybe it’s the Rambo movies, maybe its Sylvester Stallone, Rocky, whatever…"

And called us the "armpit of the NFL"

He was a cancer in Tampa and refused to take a paycut though he was on IR for like a year and a half so they cut him, he also demanded to be released from the Bronco's because he didn't like their system and was unhappy with playing time, was eventually cut there too I believe.

He COULD have been a great player, but he was his own worst enemy. It's over.

Not to mention that he was completely self-absorbed, made a lot of weird comments, and had no concept of the word team.

He continually ripped the Cardinals long after he left us.

Having him come back to the team would be like getting back together with an abusive spouse.

If you look up the word "asshat" in the dictionary, there's his picture.

Unless we were inside that locker room, then we wouldn't really know - would we? Except for what we heard from the media.

Considering he called Phoenix the armpit of the NFL, the city sure has treated him well (financially). He owns several properties here, including a multi-million dollar condo near Camelback.

Maybe he just wants to play near home. :)

I agree. What he said offended many of us but he was right. That's when the organization was a mess. I mean a HUGE mess.

OK, throw everything he has ever said about the Cardinal organization out the window.......and he still is a horse's arse.

NO WAY.

I dont want Simeon because he was a 4-3 end wimp who sucked in the run game, is no longer a pass rusher and we have no place for a guy like that on our D. His talent was only surpassed by his arrogance, but the talent is all gone now.

Aside from that, what he said about Tillman was 100% true. He said this stuff before Pat died, so I think people here are definitely overreacting. Tillman was a harder hitting, slower version of Francisco.

What's strange is that he would think that anyone would actually want him back here. That would be like Bush seeking re-election.

I forgot about the Tillman comments. Those really did show us who Simeon is so I have to say NO.

Yes, you are correct. He said that before Pat died.

But HE DID say it when Pat Tillman was in the army, fighting for our country, and after Pat gave up millions of dollars to do so.

That is a spit in Tillman's face, and I think people have, and still UNDER-react to the situation. Furthermore, as a side not, the lack of respect that most war vets get is a appalling to me, but I digress.

Simeon Rice is SO frickin' clueless when he was talking about the situation as well. To make it out that Tillman giving up a millions of dollars to go fight, was nothing to look up to about because of Tillman's football abilities just shows how flipping stupid Rice is.

A MILLION DOLLARS IS A LOT OF MONEY SIMEON RICE. It is not about how good Tillman was as a football player, it was about the money he gave up to do what he thought was right. Unlike Rice, Tillman understood what a blessing being a football player is, and new what a average person would do to be in the position he was in.

Rice, as usual, didn't, and continues to not see that the world does not revolve around him. That people don't care about his opionion because he is an arrogant ass, and "take it for granted" football player who talent was squandered by his lack of work ethic.

Simeon Rice is a horrible person, and a horrible man. He should have been, and should be boo'ed and treated like dirt everywhere he goes.

The guys is the defination of an -------.

Yep. The stuff he said about him as a football player, and the Cardinals organization, was MINOR by comparison.

Agreed on all point, especially about the lack of respect people in the armed forces get in this country. Sadly, the majority of the younger generations today treat them just like Simeon.

Some more about Simeon "The waste of flesh and bone" Rice.

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/01/27/simeon-rice-becomes-latest-player-to-pile-on-jon-gruden/

"How I feel personally? I could tell you that, too. I think he's a scumbag," Rice said. "I think he's a scumbag personally. That's when he's telling you one thing and... You know what he told me? 'Simeon you'll be here in the next five years.' I got injured [and] this man's never said one word to me. I won a Super Bowl for you. I got 13 sacks, 12, 15 every year for you. I balled. I got injured [and] you let me go like it was nothing."

Now his arrogance thinks he can just walk onto the Cardinals team ? No sir, your services of being an -------- are not needed.

I would call Rice a cancer, but that would give cancer a worse meaning than it already has.

Calais Campbell might need someone to clean his jock strap, I think the "sack master" can take care of that.

Sorry, if it sounded like I was attacking you. I was not.

I just hate this guy with alot of passion. I really would love to say all this about 2 inches from his face. Usually a 6'5" 260 lbs man with NFL atheletic ability would be intimidating, but this guy is the softest individual I have ever seen. Mentally and physically.

If he was talking about anyone other than Gruden there I would agree with you, but I have always dispised that douchebag too. Gruden is scum IMO.

Oh, he did. Judge for yourself. What he said about him as a player, and the Cardinals as a franchise, was minor compared to the belittling of his service.

I was in the Army National Guard and I'll tell you this. Rambo, Star Wars, GI JOE, Green Beret were all influences as I was growing up. What I found was a lot of regular human beings who deserve respect but at the same time the military(due to the nature of what it is) is completely ridiculous. I understand the nature of war and the history of war but the wars we are fighting now are disgusting. We need to fight the brainwashing and fundamental inability of human beings to think rationally and logically toward and evolution of the species. Not fighting over hokey religions and fundamentalist beliefs. Simeon is a little crazy but I respect him. I watched him throughout his college career at Illinois. He was a very outspoken but very nice human being.
