There’s nothing wrong with Simmons. He makes some mistakes but so does every NFL player. I’ll take guys with Simmons talent all day.
Anointed HOF er Micah Parsons was pretty much invisible yesterday and outplayed by the bust.
Micah Parsons was all over the place. I dislike him personally after hearing him talk on Hard Knocks, but that kid is a phenomenal talent. He has HOF potential for sure.

Simmons had a better game than Parsons and Parsons is a great player. Simmons simply needs to be allowed to play in an aggressive mode of attack and the same goes for any young guy since his advantage is his freakish physical ability and not his mental aspect at this juncture... turn the mad dogs loose

i think Simmons best attribute is coverage in space -- and like the example where he blanketed the TE, you wont even see that on tv if the QB throws the ball somewhere else

i think he needs to improve on his tackling -- especially when he is the force player coming up to stop a checkdown pass.

and i think he misses gaps in the run game from time to time -- and that is a part of the Cards sub-par run d.

but -- he is a guy in his second year / first full year of starting and i think he will only get better

Simmons single-handedly blew that coverage on the Penny long run TD. His over-pursuits are going to kill this team during the playoffs. The wonky strip sack on Dak last week seems more like an anomaly than anything else.

I give up.
Just praying for Devin White like light switch in the playoffs.

However, as of now that one move has cost Arizona down the stretch the last two years.

Wirfs would have solved the running issues or Lamb would have made it so went 6 mill elsewhere instead of AJ Green.

I generally curious.

Why does it seem like out of everyone on the team, it actually scares this board(not you) the most that Simmons might possibly just not be good?

Probably because he was such a monster in college that it would look really bad if we are the team that can't figure him out. It is kinda like failing to max Reggie Bush.

He was a monster against a rather pedestrian opposition in the ACC. I think a lot of Isaiah’s problems are player-based & not just coached-based.

He’s not Budda Baker or Chandler Jones prior to this year. He hasn’t earned his stripes. He should not be above criticism like a majority of this board wants him to be when he hasn’t played anywhere close to an All-Pro. Are the standards that low for this guy?

ACC is not a weak conference in terms of talent. It had the third most draft picks last year after the SEC and Big 10. Well ahead of Pac 12 and Big 12.

Hmm I haven’t seen him defensed to this extent. Maybe I’m missing something.

Me either. I mean the thread title is asking if he is a bust. That is a far cry from being above criticism.
