Yup.

Everybody her knows that if Skat played for another school that wasn’t in the state of Arizona, nobody would be reaching for him. Hell, would people still want him as high as the 3rd round if he played for the Arizona Wildcats?
I'd say similar for Jeanty.

Not that he’s not a good player, but the ASU homerism is in full force as it usually is

idc if skat played for the alaska tech community college never heard of thems - idc if you didn't watch him all season long - peach bowl alone tells you who he his and the difference he makes even after losing their wr1 facing a powerhouse like texas

140+ yards rushing? another 100 yards receiving? 2 tds? also threw a 42 yard td pass but yeah we're all just asu homers

Regardless of the team he played for, if we hadn't heard about him at all but then saw his huge impact in the college football playoff game, we might still be clamoring for him or at least would want to go back and watch game tape or highlights on him to get a better look. The reason we are even having this conversation is because he improved his draft stock with his multiple achievements in college, including that playoff game.

yes

but to their credit: they have seen him play a bunch. When you do, its hard to disagree that Skatt is a remarkable running back.

What is hard to say is if the qualities that make him remarkable in college will travel to the NFL.

I think his vision, jump cuts, hands out of the backfield, and attitude put his floor as the last RB on the roster who also excels at Special Teams.

My nightmare is that the 49ers take him and turn him into the next Tom Rathman or something

I mean, you’re being sarcastic, but that’s exactly what it is. Why do you think this thread got made in the first place & not an Ashton Jeanty thread or an Omarion Hampton thread?
home town and who we can get would be a part of it but im saying he also fits what petzing wants to do - jeanty is small imo for what we want to do - id be more than happy with omarion

I hope the 49ers draft him. Shanahan has failed miserably with Day 2 RBs during his time there. I don’t see Skat being no different.

Yea, uh, nah. A player like Jaydon Blue also had a great game in the playoffs, but I have yet to see a Jaydon Blue thread.

It’s nothing but ASU homerism. The “I don’t care where he played” shtick is hilarious.
Nothing wrong with homer picks. Jake Plummer, Pat Tillman, and others were drafted by the Cards and did well in the NFL.

ASU has had a lot of players drafted to the NFL. It's not like we are The Little Sisters of the Poor or something.

Nothing wrong with ASU homerism on an Arizona Sports Fan talk forum. In fact, nothing wrong with Cardinals homerism on this forum, either.

*if we don't have to swerve out of our way doing so

it would be dumb to draft or not draft him solely because he went to asu but that's not the case
Right? True homerism in my mind is the NFL team in a state drafting a bench-riding college RB from the local area just because he went to the local college. Drafting an NFL-caliber player from an in-state college is just smart.

I mean, it would be dumb just because we drafted a RB in the 3rd round last year. If this was the premium or premium positions like an EDGE or WR where it would be understandable to double up back-to-back years.

in my scenario i got monti trading back and picking up an extra 3rd to justify the pick - we won't get into the likelihood of that because it won't happen lol

i don't just want to draft him cuz he's a sun devil - i think he's worth a 3rd pick and would absolutely help this team because i trust my eyes
