You made a serious mistake

Yeah I watched the youtube highlights was a great game I missed.

Oh well, getting up at 2am when we had to take an early boat for a flight tomorrow just seemed like a bad idea

serious question: why does Sark insist on Ewers over Arch?
The short answer is Arch isn't actually good yet and Arch was supposedly advised by his uncles to sit behind Ewers for 2 years, learn from Sark, and start 3 years; so he isn't pressuring Sark to start him or threatening to transfer.

We saw Arch for 3 games against easy opponents early in the year. Arch already has a better deep ball and is more mobile, but he still seems to have some timing issues, he certainly didn't look like a clear upgrade.

Ewers has a lot more time in this offense and I bet he looks a lot better in practice. Ewers knows how to do everything and "can" execute at a high level, but he's just not close to consistent. As we saw on 4th and 13, he can make the big play in big moment. His main issue is the deep ball and usually he cracks like an egg under pressure. Ewers is a 3 year starter while Arch is a redshirt freshman. It's just hard to bench him for a guy who probably hasn't mastered the offense yet on the biggest stage.

As a fan I do wish he would bench Quinn because the offense is maddening to watch, but I'm not sure it would actually be smart. That's a lot of pressure on a freshman to just be inserted into the playoffs.

Yeah I'm trying to find a replay on Hulu but doesn't seem to be one.

The OT rushing TD by Cam is insane, the OL literally grabs him and throws him into the endzone.
that was my favorite play that he made all game. the QB sneak before that was my texas defense inverse of the the ASU defense Blitz where Texas scored.

definitely agree. some of us here posted about this leading up to this game regarding why Manning isn't playing yet. Texas have an identity now. they get out to leads and they look like they walk on egg shells on offense as to not do anything to hurt their defense or turn the ball over and yet they end up finding different ways to turn the ball over. sometimes throwing deep, sometimes throwing short, other times by not holding onto the ball. in the last game ewers threw a perfect intermediate pass and the receiver tipped it right to a Clemson player. I blamed Ewers most of the year and wanted to see more of Manning, but now I've come to the realization that Ewers is Texas best hope and there's no need to make him the scape goat when things don't end well. I give Ewers credit for getting Texas off to a quick start to get a lead and making the big throws in OT to finish today. I don't think Texas will beat Ohio State. I think they have a chance, but the way Ohio State are rolling vs. how inconsistent Texas play on offense has me worried.

All I’ll say is that ASU could not have played a better game than it did today. Kenny is a hell of a coach and a hell of a person. You needed Texas to play a lousy game and it was one play from pissing it away.
ASU was missing their star receiver right?

They would have been much better with another offensive weapon on the field?

Thanks. Sounds like Peyton and Eli are good, reasonable mentors. I guess my issue is that the times I’ve seen Ewers play, he doesn’t do a lot that makes him look like the first overall prospect in the nation that he was. And Arch obviously has the best bloodline of any college QB ever.

Tough loss for the Devils. Out gained UT 510-375, had more 1st downs (29-17), dominated time of possession (nearly 38-22 minutes), and were less penalized, yet somehow lost. It was a somewhat Cardinals-like performance.
Or like going up 2-0 in the NBA finals only to lose 4 straight to end the series.

Arizona sports, catch it, like a disease.

Don’t forget about being up two runs in game one on the road in the World Series and Cory Seager hitting one about seven hundred feet.

AZ sports are cursed

Ewers is an above average CFB QB, the issue is he is not someone who will be an NFL QB, and most CFB championship teams of late have had NFL QBs at the helm.

Love Skat... but at best, he's a 4th rounder and certainly not an every down NFL back. Solid special team presence and a back who can step in, admirably, to give a starter a breather every now and then. He's capable in pass-catching and I'd say questionable at pass-blocking (though given his work-ethic I'm sure he'd improve).
then draft him in the forth

He is hard to evaluate because sometimes he looks like the next big thing. Then, bad throws and questionable decisions make you go "woah". Plus, he is surrounded by arguably the most completely talented offense in CFB. An offensive line with 5 NFL players, great WRs and TEs, great RBs. He won't have that dominance in the NFL.

He will be interesting to watch.

Damn what a Cinderella run... That Texas 4th and 13 touchdown will sit with me for a while. For a moment there I thought we had won that game against all odds.

I liked Ewers but he might throw the worst deep ball I have seen in a while. That ball just floats in the air forever. Strange thing is, I thought arm strength was one of his best assets coming into college.
