Several on the board have urged the Cards to get Cam Skattebo in the draft. This seems a long shot with the Cards set for RBs. Add in the fact Texas would seem to be a tough challenge to run against. I see the long term fit, especially if he has a great game. Surely this contract is Connor’s last. The injury wear & tear is starting to show. A backfield of Benson and Skattebo would be impressive if Skattebo can carry his tackle resistance into tonight’s game. Should be a fun matchup.

Skattebo has better speed than what given credit.

He is a punishing runner that breaks tackles with speed to go all the way, has great balance and is solid at catching the ball. I'd emphasize the balance part.

Love Skat... but at best, he's a 4th rounder and certainly not an every down NFL back. Solid special team presence and a back who can step in, admirably, to give a starter a breather every now and then. He's capable in pass-catching and I'd say questionable at pass-blocking (though given his work-ethic I'm sure he'd improve).

I'm thinking Skattebo is a 6th or 7th round pick, maybe a free agent. He should be a pleasant surprise for an NFL team.

I'd take Skat over any running back on the roster behind Conner. He then becomes the perfect replacement for Conner as their playstyles are so similar.

I know this will take some stick here but I don't like Skat as an NFL back at all. I just don't see it. Lots to like to his game in college but not a lot that I think translates well in the NFL. I think he's a day 3 pick and I think he has a below average combine.

Skattebo is slow even compared to College Football standards.

I actually want to see his 40 time. He was a track guy in HS he ran the 100 I'm pretty sure he had pretty good times. The thing is he's about 25 or more pounds bigger now than he was in HS so I don't know if he still has the speed.

I've mentioned this a bunch on the ASU thread since he transferred there. My nephew Brandon(by marriage) is his cousin. He was talking about him when he was at Sac State and he said he is going to transfer because he's getting told by scouts he has NFL potential but needs to play at a higher level to prove it.

Out of HS he had D1 schools recruiting him as a safetly or LB but he wanted to play RB so he went to Sac State

i just know the stinking 49ers are going to draft him late, turn him into a RB / FB and make him a super productive role player

If he's like the rest of the family he's a Steelers fan but I don't really know I've never met him. But yeah I could see the 49ers taking him

My concern is I don't know if he's big enough to play the way he does in the NFL. Alstott for example was like 250 or bigger, Skattebo is about 220 to 225. Conner is similar and has survivved so it IS possible, but not sure.

He does lots of things, he can catch the ball he can block, he can actually throw the ball, I think he'll make a roster because he'll do whatever they ask, play special teams

the other big concern with him will be fumbling. Because of the way he fights for extra yards it's a question of will he avoid getting the ball punched out by NFL players when he does that. It hasn't really happened in college, but NFL is different.

I love the kid I'm pulling for him but yeah I don't see him going in the first 3 rounds

I see him going in the 6th or 7th round, but we'll see after the Peach Bowl. You don't think he will be drafted? Maybe watching him from my seat at ASU skewed my perspective.

I think he goes between round 4 and 6 and is never a feature back. Special teams guy, short yardage back, probably out of the league in 3 or 4 years.

Undersized, slow backs who's MO is "run through people" are not NFL players. Maybe in the era where fullbacks mattered, he could be a thing, I just don't see him being a factor in the NFL.

Not the Reggie Bush highlights obviously but this is a run by Skattebo in HS. Make sure you pay attention he doesn't go down when you think he does
