I think way too much is made out of workout numbers. Personally, I don't believe an extra .15 on a stopwatch is that important in overall evaluation.

As is someone like Monti is sitting around thinking, "I love this kid! We have him in the top 50 on our board!"

"Oh noes! He ran a 4.65 rather than a 4.5 40! Now he's maybe #100 on our board."
Numbers are overvalued, but scouts and GMs absolutely place value in them. If that one scout hadn't fought tooth and claw for Boldin in the 2nd, he was falling. That scout earned one hell of a bonus.

If this

If this means his draft position would take a hit and Cards can select him in rd 5-6, I am all for it. Dream comes true.

I was originally hoping, that Skattebo would fly under the radar and the Cardinals could draft him late or even sign him as an undrafted free agent.

If he falls in the draft, and the Cardinals still get him, this would be the best case scenario.

Likely a 4th rounder at worse at this point. I would be happy spending a 4th on him on him but Skattebo is 100% a homer pick for me. If he slides to the 4th I’d be all over it assuming the front office is interested. We need OL & DL help. If MO can finagle a trade down, pick up another 3rd, get our OL & DL in the 1st & 2nd, I’d see if there was a speedster WR then I would pull the trigger on Skattebo with the 2nd 3rd round pick. Best of all worlds for me!

Forgot to post this we visited our niece the other day, they actually live in Elverta Ca but at one point we're on Rio Linda Drive and Cam is from Rio Linda. The niece is the one married to Cameron's cousin. Saw at least 3 signs on the way there that said home of Cameron Skattebo, he outnumbered the Trump flags 3 to 1 which is saying something in that area.

At the combine, too. Which is way more impressive.

A 4.53 at your Pro day is pretty much a 4.6 at the combine.

the thing is we don't know if Cam is even healthy. The reason he didn't run at teh combine was he had a "hamstring issue". If you have a sore or tweaked hamstring the last thing you want to be doing is running 40's. I'm not saying he's as fast as Benson he's not, and I love Benson, but he's probably faster than he showed at his pro day

i know how much you love my 420 induced takes so let me drop this up on thee - skattebo visited - im guessing gannon - management and micheal were there - maybe petzing but anyway

some point conversation shifts to what he did at asu and the following he's amassed - they ask him if he could be one of the faces of the franchise - stay out of trouble - public events - whole 9 - skat of course says all the right things

and let's look at it from skattebo's pov - he wants to go in the 3rd round - if we're one of the teams truly interested in him homie's gonna do what he can to make that happen

nobody "wants" to go in the third round.
NFL dreams are all about being a first round pick...then when thats past...its about just getting drafted...hopefully as high as possible so you get a bigger check.
The draft, with the rookie scale, is the one place positional value does not force a guy to take less money...dude drafted at 10, he gets paid the same rather he is a QB or a RB

Couple of things. Saw our niece again yesterday. Skattebo is being told 3rd round is quite possible. There's some hope from the agent he might go earlier but they think 3rd round is most likely.

On the bowl game, he was sick as all get out the night before the game. My nieces Husband knows him quite well they're cousins and Cam texted him the night before that he was puking his guts out but he was going to play. Tjhe story about him drinking too much water was basically a cover, they knew the cameras had caught him throwing up, they didn't want to appear they were giving an excuse so they said he drank too much water, he had some sort of flu bug.

Apparently there's going to be a story coming out either on draft day or after where they go into his background growing up, the niece and nephew won't be in the story but will probably be mentioned as they were involved.

I don’t see us using the pick needed to get him on any RB because of where we currently sit at the position but I’m down for whatever Monty does. FWIW though, I remember the trashing of James Conner’s 4.65 when he ran it and when we signed him. Didn’t work out too bad for us. Mental makeup, vision, three cone and the vertical trump the forty all day every day when it comes to RB’s.

Give me vision and balance over 40 times for a running back any day.

Likely a 4th rounder at best at this point. Would be fine spending a 4th on him.
And we are pretty well set at RB, too much so to draft him before the 4th. If you don't agree with that, it is clear that we have more pressing needs than RB. You can measure his 40 yd speed but you can't measure his heart, desire, and drive. I wish him the best.

Doing the math I really hope he goes 3 not 4 even though I get the argument he shouldn't. It's about 1 million more over the length of the contract if you go 3 not 4.

only a select few can run away from players in the NFL. Let's worry about someone who can actually get 4-15 yards a touch and make plays. Skats vision, feet and balance are elite. Trey Benson is a stiff and should be traded for a late rd pick

With him being cut after year 2, all the more reason.

Maybe just wait until whatever team waives him in 2027 so we can do this drama again?

Analysts are pretty high on Skattebo so I'm not sure why so many people here think he's going to be practice squad fodder. I didnt go to the Arizona schools, I'm assuming the disdain is mainly UA grads who are upset about him being an ASU player?

A lot of this thread reminds me of when UT grads thought Myles Garrett was going to be bad in the pros.
