In addition to turf toe, Kolb has mid-foot sprain in other ligaments and a bone bruise. It's not a Lis Franc injury.

Anything but John Skelton starting Sunday would be a disaster. If Kolb starts, he risks further injury, and beyond that, I think it's about time to see what Big John has done with a year and a half in the playbook.

Meh.

And I like Skelton.

But I'd rather him start in Philly rather than at home against the crappy Rams. Even Kolb will look good on Sunday.

Very interested in seeing Skelton play this week. There's a scout I follow on Twitter (name escapes me) but he posted earlier this week that he was interested in seeing Skelton play again and that he thinks Skelton's skill set makes him a better pro QB if he can read a defense. Never like seeing guys get injured, especially our guys, but Skelton hung in the pocket when every other QB we had last year tried to run or just fell over. I'm excited to see Skelton play.

Me too cause those are all things you can't really teach.

It's hard to teach someone to be brave or to stand up in the pocket or to have a big arm but you can work on timing, reading defenses etc.

Not sure that any QB not named Warner will ever be any good on this team as the coaching seems to be horrid.

if he can read a defense

That's a huge IF right there. QBs that can make all the throws are a dime a dozen. Now a QB that can read a defense... that's something special.
From what I've seen so far, Skelton has shown nothing when it comes to reading and reacting to a defense. I guess it will be interesting to see if he has improved in that area but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not sure if Skelton is the answer right now (he still needs to develop) but I welcome the change. I believe the Cardinals and Kolb need to reboot at the QB position.

Chris Long has and will destroy our tackles, so at least we can see his pocket awareness while under pressure. James Hall had a big season last year as well so he should feast on sunday as well. The one thing I remember the most about him last year was how good his awareness in the pocket was, especially for a 5th round rookie. Maybe Kolb can take some notes.

I've always liked skelton as a potential future starter for us. He did well last year, his numbers were poorer than expected for many reasons, one of them is that he had about 10 dropped passes from his wr's. Without those drops he'd be close to 60 percent completion last year.

I hope he does well, just hope our OT's don't Rosenbach him.

But against the Rams is probably one of the best places to start.

One good thing about Skelton is that he knows how to get the ball to Fitz, sans the Cowboys game. With Housler, Heap and Sherman likely out this week, that's a pretty important quality.

I confess to being a Skelton fan, I think we waisted much in getting Kolb who I predice will spend much of his career as the second fiddle somewhere else.

I tend to agree. If Skelton goes in and lights it up against the Rams (not saying he will, but who knows), then we could have a QB controversy. And, while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it will tick a lot of people off because, as I have said before, I think we gave up too much for Kolb.

Keep in mind that the Rams suck so that wouldn't offer much of a comparison to Kolb's effort against the Ravens D.

Also keep in mind.. CKW will still be on the sideline, and Graves in the FO.. so we're pretty much screwed either way. :D

You bring up a good point, because even if Kolb sucks, we've invested so much in him it'll be hard for anyone else to get snaps, even if he's sucking as bad as he is now. He could suck this bad for another year or more and not be replaced because of the money they have invested in him.

His contract is heavily backloaded

C'mon guys you know Skelton will play great and we'll win and we'll have the obligatory QB controversy just to complete the carbon copy of the 90's and 00's Cardinals of SDS!

Same Ol Cardinals
Horrible start - check
Terrible defense - check
Pissed off fans - check
Tons of injuries - check
"team meeting that accomplishes nothing" - check
Stadium filled with other teams fans - check

All we need is the QB controversy and TV blackouts and boom! Time travel! We're gonna party like it's 1995.

oh yeah, I forgot the key to the whole thing:

Bert was really excited before the season and convinced himself we were gonna be good - CHECK

I wish I could come across the details of his contract but I swear I read that of the 60+ mill only 21 mill is guaranteed and 15 of that is in the first 2 years of the contract....which makes his contract expendable after next season. So yeah the majority of his contract is backloaded with money that is not guaranteed...could save us.

Why do people keep saying that, Leinart was a #1 pick making a lot of money but when Whiz decided he wasn't the right guy he benched him.

Obviously we don't have Warner but we didn't know how good he'd be when Whiz did that.

If Skelton is better than Kolb he'll show it and he'll play.
