Considering Suns just signed a free agent and considering how excited I became after hearing the news, I thought I make a spot here and show my pleasure. If you've read my posts, you know that I wanted a big, mainly Skinner, to sign. Skinner signed.

Enjoy the following YouTube clip of Brian Skinner. At 6 foot 9, Skinner averaged 1blk per game. Not bad. Kurt Thomas averaged 0.4. Mind that Skinner is younger and costs 7 million bucks less than Thomas. And oh yeah, Skinner scores better (49%fg) than Kurt (48%fg) and rebounds more (5.8reb).

Great selection. Great player.

Have you ever watched NBA basketball?

Oh god. Here we go again with all rhetorical, sarcastic stuff.......this after I make a positive, upbeat post about my pleasure of signing Skinner.

There is no way around it guys. No matter what I say, it is wrong. Oh well.

Just thought I share my enjoyment of Skinner.

So long until Suns make another trade or key signee.

Skinner isnt even close to Kurt Thomas... Yeah I agree that Hill is better than Jones though, and I think DJ strawberry with his athleticism will be better than Rose. (Remember, he was rated best athlete in that class...)

anyways, sidenote to Sunsman44. I thought you said you were leaving? I don't mind you posting because I like telling you how wrong you are all the time, because more often that not you are wrong.

What does it have to do with being positive? If I go about saying "the war in Iraq is going flawlessly, no Americans are being injured, the Iraqi's love us and there are no insurgents" does that make it factual?

I'm thrilled about the Skinner signing, but he's not KT. KT is one of the best low block defenders in the league, he gets great positioning on his man, he's a very good rebounder, is fast enough, and has a great jump shot from the baseline and from the elbow. Skinners shot and offensive skills are not comparable to KT's, nor is his man to man defense, though its adequate.

Furthermore, how can you say DJ Strawberry, who's never played a second in the NBA, and was nearly undrafted is equal to Jalen Rose? Sure Rose has been hampered by injuries in the late stages of his career and maybe wasn't the greatest fit for the Suns, but Strawberry hasn't even played yet. If DJ Strawberry's career ever ends up being comparable to Rose's, he'll be considered a HUGE steal.

YEAH SUNSMAN IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! First thing I thought when I read that the suns signed king tut was that you would be excited! but seriously Kurt is a way better bball player than Skinner, hence the long term 8mil/year contract that he has. Didn't Kurt lead the nation in scoring and rebounding in college? I mean come on, dude is a skilled bball player with a high IQ for the game. He is totally underrated by about half the people on this board including you. So yeah I criticize you and everyone else who says anything negative about the guy because he's awesome.

Hope we're not judging Skinner based on youtube highlights because he was getting dunked on more than anything.

Let's keep it simple: Skinner's not very good, but he might be good enough to help. That's a pretty good deal, all things considered.

I'm looking at it this way:

He's no KT, he's no PJ, but he's a banger for the vet minimum that easily could be making $3-4M a year. Good signing.

Skinner is basically a banger which I think the Suns have needed on their roster for a long time and the Suns get him on the cheap so there is very little downside. He sort of reminds me of a Reggie Evans type player. IMO, Skinner and KT are two different type players so I don't try to compare them.

I forgot to mention, that was an awesome block Skinner made on Marion. Marion was really flying. It's nice to know that Skinner has those kind of hops. Skinner is definitely worth the veteran minimum.

Its a pretty block, but he had all day to position himself. Marions doesnt use his body enough on the finish and he presents the ball for the block, ughhh!. KT was an excellent defender on Duncan, Yao or Shaq, skinner has a lot to live up to

Still it's nice to know that Skinner can get that high above the hoop. I'm thinking Marion didn't think he could get that high.

man, you guys just really don't like 44.

do i agree with his sentiments? not exactly, but i don't think he was as way off base as most you seem to argue.

for instance - the comparison of dj to rose. whomever broke 44 down for that one is really lame. he's not saying dj will have rose's career. he's saying that dj is the equivalent to rose NOW. and quite frankly, that may be true. rose did next to nothing for the suns last year. a raw rookie could have provided what rose provide. and what is dj? a raw rookie. and that's coming from a guy who expects NOTHING outta dj this year.

and now, for a complete non-sequitor, i give you this:

(kinda funny and i love the end)

I have no problem with sunsman44, just didnt happen to agree on skinner>KT, nope, nada. I do like skinner better than anyone available not named KT or PJ. And you know, maybe skinner runs better and that can help. But against yao, TD, he's got something to prove.
Rose couldnt play d anymore or dribble penetrate, his knees are shot, I like straw better. I think he can take SOMEBODY off the dribble, he is a stud, and will allow Barbs to guard the PG if straw plays point as a backup. I agree that sometimes it gets personal here, but thats just a lack of maturity. Sunsman44 nothing personal, I do agree on the straw and Hill comparisons, Burke/Marks, tucker/jumaine etc will likely have no impact this year.
