I saw Skita play in a preseason game against the Suns a few years ago (Yuta was in the Nugz camp then). What struck me about him was not that he was ineffective, but that he had physically transformed himself, from a lithe Zarko-like body to a much more muscular incarnation. I wonder if he has been confused about what is expected of him now--he physically can play big men, but what does that mean, given what he was "drafted to be"? So the question becomes: does D'Antoni imagine he's going to utilize the 18 year old string bean shooting machine or the 22 year old banging moose with touch? Let's hope D'Antoni can reintroduce the game to Skita and his new body....

AZ Finest, what are you talking about? Remember that BBall team here in the South? The one that is a national powerhouse year-in and year-out (OK, exclude this year - for now).

I thank Lute and JC for keeping Arizona relevant in the national sports scene (see Suns, AZ BBall and the Diamondbacks) and to a lesser extent - ASU football... but they had better make a run to a BCS bowl soon or I am going to jump off a bridge.:thud:

Besides the disaster that is Amare's knee ( i remember the night i read it on the board i was drunk and i started to tear up. It was after UA had lost to Illinois and i realized the Cardianls season was already up in smoke and i kept thikning "Why me?". I went to bed that night thinking it was a bad dream) everything else has been coming up roses....even when a move is questionable it seems to work out unbeliveably for us (see; Diaw, Boris)

This is not a product of luck....Great management by Sarver and BC. I actually think JC taking on more of a consulting role was a large factor as well, as he seemed to make descions of the heart all to often. It gained us the reputation as a first class franchise, but now Sarver is taking that rep and molding it with a smart economic model that will ensure our success for years.

I don't know what I would do without the Suns, the Suns help me around this time a year, when I feel like ivfe been severely kicked in the Nutts by the Cardinals, the Suns start kicking ass and make me feel better. Thats why I was devestated when I heard about Amare, that was around the same time we were coming to the conclusion Cards will blow this year. Suns overachieving this year I'm loving it!! If Amare gets healthy I'm gonna be stoked!!!

That is far and away the most encouraging thing I've read about Skita. I'm not quite ready to believe he has become a 'banging moose' but anything is better than another flimsy gazelle on this team. To continue the ungulate herbivore metatphor, I'd be happy with a steadfast elk.

Yeah, now we have both... Funny how things work out in the end.

That same thing kinda happened when we ended up with both lampe and zarko at one point. we had them both at the same time didn't we?

i think ford was being facitious....it is well known that the Suns might have even drafted Skita over Amare if they had had the chance. They liked him that much

Amare was #1 on their list of prospects. No way they'd have picked Skita over him.

I envisioned Skita, when drafted, could be very similar to a young Vlade Divac. When Vlade first joined the Lakers he could shoot the lights out from outside and was all over the court like a young colt. The Lakers did make Vlade a commendable inside player but I also think they broke some of his spirit and suppressed some of his tremendous athletic talent.

My hope is D'Antonni will encourage Skita to play his game all over the court and do what he does best. If Skita plays all over the court as a 7 footer he will get his share of points, rebounds and blocks in the normal flow of the game.

I think Skita needs to regain his confidence and be nurtured like Diaw and Barbosa.
