OK, here's my top 10 defensive players not to win a Super Bowl. All of these players are equal so this isn't in any particular order:

10: Dick Butkus, LB
9: Adrian Wilson, S
8: Alan Page, DT
7: Aeneas Williams, DB
6: Bruce Smith, DE
5: Junior Seau, LB
4: Brian Dawkins, S
3: Jack Youngblood, LB
2: Deacon Jones, DE
1: Larry Wilson, S

There are others like Brian Urlacher, John Randall, Jared Allen, Paul Krause, Kevin Greene, Pat Fischer, among many, many others. This list was harder than the offensive list.

For the record the Lions had a top-10 offense in PPG five times in the ten seasons Sanders was there with mediocre QB play. They also made the playoffs five times. In the same time frame the Cardinals made the playoffs once.

Earl Campbell is a better back than Barry Sanders in their prime :)

And neither is Barry for how I wanted a running back to establish the run... Jim Brown and Payton would be my choice, but make no doubt Barry Sanders was electric

Barry is in the GOAT conversation for a RB for a few reasons..

Statistical dominance - #2 all time in YPC, #3 in rushing and #9 in TD’s

Length of peak - First team all pro in first and ninth seasons

Production given supporting casts and highlight reel caliber of runs. He was must see TV for an entire decade.

He’s without a doubt top-5 all time and he’s in my top-2 but to each their own. :)
