LMAO!

During the show I was waiting for somebody to ask where FEMA was!

Thanks for the background info...this is my first time watching it.

I'd really recommend renting the discs to catch up. A couple of those seasons were really good, particularly the last couple.

Last night's premiere was the best episode in a while, IMO. I think the quality has progessively dropped since the first season. I hope Clark going to college reinvigoratees the show.

I don't think season 1 is as good as most of the sunsequent seasons. I like that it's building on itself now, where in the first season it seemed it was much more a seaosn of stand alone episodes.

There was a lull there for a few episodes, I'll give you that. But, for the most part, I really like the sort of "reverse intreauge" that's going on--you know how Clark, Lex and Lois end up...you just don't know how.

Cark has always worn primary colors--blue shirt, red jacket, etc...

It was interesting that they had him in a plain white T at the end of the show. I don't think they've ever done that.

They've used the white shirt only on rare occasions, usually to emphasize Clark's human qualities. After the whole Kal-El thing, he showed up in white, and I beleive the loft scene where he's greiving over Alicia, I think he wore white then as well. Usually it's the standard red or blue, he'll wear black when either Kal or Kal-El is dominant. Loved the new intro, its about time they changed it. Here's a clip of the new intro http://homepage.mac.com/marieski/KryptonKnights/iMovieTheater98.html

Okay...this is my second time watching the show...the blockbuster down the road doesn't carry the past seasons so please be patient..btw...if I say anything thats a spoiler...sorry.

...who is Chloe Sullivan? Is this a made up character by WB? She's cute btw.
...so far this is the second episode where we're reminded about Pa Kents heart problems and he gets his butt kicked again...is this like a regular occurrence?
...Why do I have a feeling that Clark knocked up Lana?

Chloe is just a friend, people used to think she'd turn out to be Lois Lane later, but we find out her COUSIN is Lois Lane. Lois was there last season, and in the last episode...

Pa Kents heart problems are somewhat related to Jor El, and how Kent gave up something in order to save Clark...I'm not sure about all that.

Clark DID NOT knock up Lana :)

Okay...Clark has his powers back...I recken it would have been a stretch to have the series continue on with Chloe doing all the work. Pa kent survived a show without getting beat up.

I don't understand the relationship with lex's dad and the Jor'el thing...I know it must have been covered last season - but how did that get set up?

Too bad the gun shot didn't leave a scar on Clark...I hear chicks dig that sort of thing.

btw...Lana is pregnant. :p

Lol, maybe she is now...super baby.

No idea what happened to Lex's dad last season...I completely forgot about what happened...

A couple of things happened Lionel Luthor that may have made him a vessel.

The one the alluded to is that he was in possession of a crystal (and here's where my memory starts getting fuzzy on this) that somehow activated when he was holding it (?). I think it may have knocked him out, or blinded him, or put him in a coma or something. Anyway, it was one of the three (?) crystals that Clark, Lana and her boyfriend/boyfriend's mother, Lex and Lionel were all independently searching for for much of last season.

The other things that crossed my mind is that Lionel and Clark swapped bodies at some point last season, and when they switched back Lionel had no memory of it, but instead was left "born again" presumably because of his brush with such a powerful "goodness." It also cured his cancer.

The show needs to do a better job of tying all of these mysteries together instead of just finishing up a storyline and leaving all of these loose ends. It could have as much intregue as a show like Lost, but they never continue on the same path for too long.

On a side note, any takers as to who the "loved one" is that gets the ax? My guess: Chloe. She's the less obvious choice because of the "loved one" angle, but she's the easiest to cut from the show because she's not a part of the Superman legend as we know it...but Lois Lane is, and it's time she steps into a bigger role.

On a side note, I read in a Comic Book magazine that young Aquaman will be making an appearence. And that Tom Welling will be directing an episode this season. Welling is also pushing for a young Bruce Wayne to make an eventual appearence (which I think would be easy to do--bring him to smallville through a business meeting/venture with Lex).

For me, though, they're doing a fascinating job of explaining why Clark becomes Superman, superhero, and an even more fascinating job of why Lex becomes Lex Luthor, supervillain.

The upcoming baby (just kidding)...I would think Chloe also...but I wonder if Pa Kent is due...

The previous fer next week has Aquaman swimming around. That'l be cool to see Wayne make an appearence.

In the same article I read it mentioned Tom Wopat (sp?) AKA Luke Duke making a guest appearence for a number of shows, reuniting he and Schnider...so I think that might rule out Pa Kent.

Aha--I turned it off before the previews.

On a side note, does anyone else usually feel pretty bummed after watching Smallville? They always end on a sad note it seems.

Agreed. I am all over this show, and this season is MUCH better so far than last...

Chloe sounds like a good choice...the less obvious. I think she would die to save him too, if given the choice.

Obvious ones are his father of course, he died in the comics, and Lana, since he needs to move on to Lois Lane somehow :)

That's a good point. And, the "on again, off again" thing with Lana is wearing a bit thin with me.

One porblem I'd have with this (not that it matters for this series), is that Lana isn't dead in the comics (she's married to Pete Ross).

...hey, Maybe Pete'll die--wouldn't effect the show one bit!

Not going to happen. It would be nice though but the Batman franchise don't want to do a crossover. here's the link

I think I heard that just because it happened in the comics or movie, doesn't necessarily mean it will happen in the show...

Yeah, that why I said it didn't matter in this series...I still wouldn't be happy with it, though.

I know they've said it won't happen, but the "batman franchise" and the "superman franchise" are really the same people--Warner Brothers. Things change, especially now that another Batman movie isn't as close to the horizon as it was at the time of this interview.

Tonight's episode was the best in a long time IMO. This episode and the one with the Flash have been really enjoyable.

Lex is really solidifying his role as a bad guy (makes for much a better show).

You are right...that was awesome...

Did you catch the reference?

JLA? Justice League of America...right?

Kind of funny that it sort of ends the same way as the one with the Flash..."maybe we should start a club or something..."

So very cool.
