LOL Zaven Collins. For comparison's sake, Isiah Simmons played 30% of snaps against the New England Patriots in last year's Week 11 game.

It's time to put Dennis Gardeck back into the "is butt" file. Super-fun when people thought he was good for a little while there.

In an ideal situation, we'd be running 20-30 more offensive plays each game. You don't love A.J. Green only seeing 1 reception on that number of plays, but what are you going to do when there are only 15 passing attempts to go around?

Ehhhh not sure you can stick the fork in Gardeck just yet…. Many guys take more then a year to be fully recovered and back to their old selves post ACL surgery. It’s not like we’re talking about an AP level athlete here.

I laugh at all the Collins comments week to week. At this point who cares? I mean seriously.

I still believe in his potential to be a star.

I do get people's frustration in the midst of a Super Bowl year that our 1st round pick isnt much of a factor.

Obviously nowhere near as bad, but its like Packers fans upset they had Jordan Love. Instead of having a contributer last year could have been the difference in getting to/winning the Super Bowl.

Injuries happen so at least we'll have a 1st round pick ready to go if we need him.

Gardeck is not a smart player and he showed that yesterday. That penalty was brutal and helped keep Chicago somewhat in the game.

Calais Campbell has been inactive healthy in his rookie season, thats happen when the team is pretty good overall and u don't need to push rookies
Wilson played early cause of Malcom butler retirement otherwise would have been more on the bench
Maybe Collins is not the player worth the first time round grade, but its premature now
Gardeck, is coming from a serious knee injury, has been expected his struggles this season

They said Hopkins wouldn't play much, so interesting to see him play so much. That is a good sign he is 100%,

There was a low snap count on offense so I'm curious if the pct. would have remained that high had we gone around 70 snaps or so.

I wish they could just do a swap of Gardeck and Marsh after the game.

Calais Campbell played in all 16 games as a rookie and contributed in each game. He started every game his second season and his tackles went from 24 as a rookie to 47. Not even a close comparison to Collins.

No he wasn't. He didn't start any games, but he played in all 20 games that season:

Malcolm Butler retired because Marco Wilson was doing so well. They play different positions, and I'm certain that Vance Joseph puts the mental onus on his ILBs more than on his DBs.

That's why I find the comparison to Isiah Simmons so interesting and compelling. Haason Reddick was playing 38% of snaps at this point in his rookie season.

Yes he has been active , he has had just poor impact like Collins
Campbell collected 28 combined tackles with zero starts zero sacks
Collins is at 22 tackles with zero starts
But at least Collins in the first stretch had a couple of great plays
Their path seems similar at today

He also had a pass defensed, forced fumble, 2 TFLs and a QB hit. I don't remember any "where is Calais Campbell" discourse at the time. I also think that maybe he blocked a couple of field goals?

Also, he was a mid-second round pick.

What were Collins' "couple of great plays?"

Who cares that our mid first round pick isn’t good enough to get pt over Vallejo and walker? Uh, me. I care.

I wouldn’t be concerned if Collins was sitting due to hicks and Simmons. But sitting behind Vallejo and walker is cause for a little bit of concern.

Exactamundo. And, as pointed out, Collins is NOT at this point comparable to Simmons. Bust-a-roni thus far. Not much hope that'll change in the future.

At this rate, I wouldn't be shocked to see Zaven Collins on the EDGE next year and Hicks get an extension especially if Vance returns. I wouldn't hate the idea either. I feel like it takes advantage of Collins size and speed more at OLB.

I will say that watching Simmons vs Chicago, I do question the overall coaching at ILB. Simmons has not developed like is being touted and Collins is a non-factor. A lot of talent not being developed.

We will see.
