At this rate, I wouldn't be shocked to see Zaven Collins on the EDGE next year and Hicks get an extension especially if Vance returns. I wouldn't hate the idea either. I feel like it takes advantage of Collins size and speed more at OLB.

I will say that watching Simmons vs Chicago, I do question the overall coaching at ILB. Simmons has not developed like is being touted and Collins is a non-factor. A lot of talent not being developed.

We will see.
Simmons take really bad angles and makes up for it with this speed. He needs to be coached and he will cut 2 to 3 yards off of the offenses plays when he is involved. It's a shame they haven't fixed that.

Yea, Simmons has been decent-to-solid, but he hasn’t lived up to the 8th overall pick.

Simmons is still a better athlete than player but he's just so athletic he's a good not great player. I still watch replays of him in coverage and marvel at how much ground he makes up when the ball is in the air, but wonder why was he so far off the guy in the first place is that the zone?

With Collins it is getting to the point where you have to assume he needs to learn the game. I wasn't mad that he got picked off on the td pass that's such a short field the pick is legal and it's pretty difficult to stop that play it's why so many teams run that. But the issue is every time he comes in he seems to give up something. I still think he can and probably will be ok but I'm less confident than I was a few games ago. With Vallejo now out the fact that we're playing other guys instead of him is disconcerting.

Gardeck is not a smart player and he showed that yesterday. That penalty was brutal and helped keep Chicago somewhat in the game.
I love his all in hustle. Now he just needs to be smarter. (See Zach Allen against the screen pass Sunday.)

If Collins was showing it in practice he"d be playing IMO. Obviously he isn't. He got a couple reps when Hicks got nicked

On Gardeck I'm sure the ACL is part of it but also part of it is teams have him scouted now. He was basically a bull rush guy last year he surprised teams with how strong and fast he was at his size and he was terrific in limited snaps. Now I suspect guys are playing him to do that I see him try to do other things but I don't think he's really got the bend to do that go wide and lean in stuff he's more of a straight ahead guy. I think he'll be better next year post injury but I do think he's going to have to learn more than just one move.

The coaching staff and Keim look like doofuses for annointing Collins the starter and trying to trade Hicks. VJ be like, "nah, fam. Hicks is the starter and his peers will vote him captain. Meanwhile, Collins will get three snaps per game to prove himself. "

Keim, yes, but who on the coaching staff anointed Collins?

Not worried at all. We have all seen him flash.

If we are talking about this next year at this time - then yes.

Would have still preferred Najee.

In the meantime Jordan Hicks has been the glue of the defense, keeping it all together!

And there are a lot of Steeler fans that are not too thrilled with their 1st round pick right now also!! :D

Ehhhh not sure you can stick the fork in Gardeck just yet…. Many guys take more then a year to be fully recovered and back to their old selves post ACL surgery. It’s not like we’re talking about an AP level athlete here.

I laugh at all the Collins comments week to week. At this point who cares? I mean seriously.
Exactly. Remember when Golden got his knee rolled up on during that blitz play & tore his ACL? The next season he wasn't the same, then he signs with the Giants & has 11 sacks. Sometimes it takes a bit to get back to form. I haven't gave up on Gardeck at this point.

Well Howie Long definitely would disagree with you on that. During halftime he was raving about Simmons being all over the field & playing multiple positions.
