Dennis Gardeck has 82 snaps this season and no sacks. In 2020, he played 94 snaps and had 7.0 sacks.
Zeven Collins -- good grief
Still hope we keep Gardeck. Shouldn't be too expensive, is very good playing special teams and there are not of young pass rushers out there. How many times have we seen that a player needs a full season after an ACL injury to really get back to their level?

Thank you for posting this.

Thoughts.
1-I think Josh Jones started and was then subbed for Garcia.

2-I agree on Zaven Collins. If not for last year with Simmons I would worry. Now it seems to be Vance's thing.

3 - Happy to see less AJ Green.

4-Really tight defensive rotation. 8 players 90% or more. Golden essentially picked up Vallejo's snaps and they just kept Simmons inside.

Man.... Kennard...... He has zero excuses. Plays zero ST's and was out snapped by Gardeck on defense.

And then there is Andy. Ugh.

A lot of complaining around here for a D that is top 5 in the league in almost all overall defensive categories. Has also been a huge part of going 6-0 on the road all double digit victories.

I think the complaining is mostly because a 1st round pick can't get on the field. It just doesn't bode well for the future as Hicks is done and heaven knows it would be a disaster if Collins doesn't pan out.

The Cards don't want Keim to be Matt Millen who dafted WR like 3 years in a row.. or something absurd like that.

Garcia came in for Jones in the first quarter and is credited with 72 snaps, and Jones 16.

Combined they have 88 snaps when there were 83 total offensive snaps.

Can anyone explain?

(Perhaps extra o-lineman for 5 snaps?)

I would apply the Simmons year-one rule until proven wrong.

I think the fact we held them to 49 offensive snaps led to Simmons/Hicks being able to play every snap and Zaven not getting in. But yeah, getting frustrating from a guy they touted was ready to play the position from day one.

I'm not writing Collins off in the longer term by a longshot, but he was immediately anointed the starter and ready to make an impact from day 1 and couldn't get a snap half way through the season. No one from the team said that about Simmons right when he was drafted.

I agree. None of us are privy to what's really happening so what's there to do but defer to Vance. I suppose we could second guess him, so there's that.

The anointing, if I recall, was by KEIM not the guy in charge of the Defence and there was a lot of 'unicorn' talk about Simmons from the team after the draft.

I was watching him yesterday he looks like he's running fine, I don't see a limp, but it seems like he's still not all there in that he doesn't seem to have the power he had last year?

Not unusual for an ACL to take into year 2.

I was thinking that during the game though the guys getting our sacks are 2 guys, Golden and Jones, 30 and 31 respectively. We need a young edge rusher next year, even Gardeck is 27 already.

The announced starting lineup on FOX had Jones, but Max Garcia was actually in there I think I even commented about it on the game thread

I did see Jones in as the 6th OL at least once

Not in on the first snaps, I also noted when Garcia came in.

Hmm I didn't record it so I can't check but when FOX showed the graphic it said Jones, but Max was in. I don't remember if that was our first drive or not I think it was.

Simmons was starting to get more snaps at this point last year. Collins is going in the opposite direction, This is a better team with bigger goals, but that still has to be a concern.

Look, we can't both draft a young pass rusher and another off-ball linebacker in the first round. We can only choose one. Keim has communicted over and over that after Quarterback, off-ball linebackers who play less than 40% of the defensive snaps are the most rare and valuable commodities on the football field.

You have to stockpile them.

So when do you think KK sends Moore on a pattern that's beyond the line of scrimmage? I don't get it?
Maybe he’s showing a difficulty getting separation (which seems unlikely given his speed and shiftiness) in practice.

I guess that's possible. . . Given his size, I'm certain it can be an issue at times; but any guy with Moore's quickness + speed should be able to get open. I'm gonna hope that Kliff is saving it! Lol.
