I dunno about that. But Tom Petty rocked! That was one awesome 1/2 time show!

When they were singing Free Fallin that stadium inside with all the lights was a thing of beauty!

Really? Personally, I thought it was really, really dull.

Practically put me into a coma.

I just figure that they are going to want an act with more of an "edge" to their music. :D

That was great. But I am a HUGE Tom Petty fan and he still sounds fantastic.

It looked like Petty just came out of a coma with that beard.

:lmao:

He looked homeless. Good thing he finally found a job.

Shane: I always liked Tom Petty too. Not a huge fan but I like his stuff. Good halftime show and I'm sure the league office loved it because it was safe and non-controversial.

Halftime was once again boring. They should of had Bon Jovi.

Rage Against the Machine or DMX would do better to fit the spirit of the game, but would send the family friendly (that's spoken in disdain by the way) league image into a tailspin.

How does DMX fit the "spirit" of NFL football?

Heavy back beat, gets the blood going. Rage too. Of course, inspirational music has always been in the ear of the listener.

The way the keep trotting out these old guys, I expect them to next dig up Frank Sinatra , hook him up to machines, and make him lip synch.

I would just like to see someone relevant from the last year in music perform. You could even have a band at each end of the stadium if you want more than one style of music.

that arm and arm bit at the end wasnt planned they needed to hold each other up til the walkers came. It was horrible, the main demographic for the NFL is under 40 and not a lot of people under 40 care about tom petty. Give me some foo fighters, jay-z, anyone but the people outta the home, when was the last time someone under 50 performed the halftime show?

Perhaps they should have some famous artists/bands from the hosting state perform at Half Time, however, would be really interesting to see who would represent AZ.. Roger Clyne, Meat Puppets, maybe even the Asylum...

At least there were no wardrobe malfunctions involving Petty..or else....

It all had to become PC after the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake fiasco....

I'm glad they're going with more universally popular performers. I'm sure there are some G.W.A.R. fans out there that wish they would perform at halftime but if edgy means I have to watch another saggy tit flop out then I'd rather just see halftime highlights. The past couple of years I really enjoyed McCartney and Petty. Yes, very middle of the road pop music but they both perform well live and don't rely on gimmicks, shiny costumes and pyrotechnics to carry their 12 minutes.

They should announce the probowl roster, offensive and defensive rookie of the year, and league mvp as halftime entertainment.
