I think Baker struggles in coverage to an extent but he's their young stud because even though the Pro Bowl has become a superficial popularity contest, he gives the franchise an identity. You do not franchise one of your up and coming players because they want a new contract, which then reflects badly on the franchise (because it's a pride factor and shows you do not take care of your own so early in the stage of their career with some security from a young player's perspective) unless you're a running back... now if you cannot get a contract done, a vet like Jones is a possibility for a franchise tag

uh... Chandler was franchised before he was extended; it doesn’t preclude that from happening with Budda too. Franchise means you protect him while sorting it out.

Nah, that argument does not work. You stated that franchise tag as a solution to Baker's season (not a oncoming deal like your Chandler suggestion) while Chandler's 2017 negotiations equates to a new contract just a month later from a non-exclusive tag

Budda will get a new deal, like Nuk this offseason.

PP21 will show you what he intends to do, if a deal is done, then he wants to stay in Arizona, if no deal is done, he didn't want to stay. But than, he isn't very smart either, because we hit the Franchise Tag and he has to play an other year with Arizona or we trade him on the F-tag. He had no leverage last year, he has none this year.

Chandler is up next offseason for eventual extension, but we will see.

But as long as we stay away from headscratchers like TM, Gresham and DJ contracts, everything is fine.
