Hard to win games when your QB can't see wide open receivers 7 yards away

But Kliff and the offense is the problem! Nonsense.

Kliff’s game and clock management remains a work in progress, but there’s nothing wrong with the offense in design and execution except the limitations of the guy three yards back from center.

Yup…. And plays just like this have occurred all year. Yet people like @SoonerLou refuse to acknowledge it’s a problem.

So everything has to be perfect and Kyler is money.

As a reminder, Wentz was missing just about his entire OL and a main WR and still managed to lead his team to victory.
To be fair they were playing our defense meaning his WRs are wide open like way more open than we ever get anyone! It’s absurd how wide open we let opposing teams receivers get!

I got one to stir the pot, Kyler actually is a legit NFL QB but if you are looking for him to be a superstar QB playing at a MVP level because the rest of the team is sucking rocks to bail you out... then yeah, he fails

If I accept Kyler as a good young pro QB... hey Kirk, catching the freaking ball because your QB is backing you with words

The problem is two fold with Kyler

-He refuses to climb in the pocket to create better throwing angles

-He needs to lead and that includes chewing out Garcia and Jones and his receivers for not making critical catchable passes

I think he's been better at climbing the pocket, but the interior has been awful the past 3 weeks.

So climbing the pocket isnt his issue as much as throwing in a muddy pocket is. He's shown he can slide in the pocket to make deep throws. However, in a muddy pocket the short throws are nonexistant. Thats just a question of him either not seeing it cause he wasnt reading the field properly. Or he didnt see it cause in a muddy pocket he simply cant see short routes in front of him because of his height.

I've been preaching about fixing the interior since day 1 so this is nothing new. Just a question if he can ever improve on that area like he has in other areas.

It has been stunning (not so much any longer though) to see just how often Kyler fails to locate WIDE OPEN receivers.
This is why when people blame Kliff, I point to plays like this.

Murray still makes elementary mistakes at times that make it TOUGH to call a good offensive game. Murray has regressed mightily.

Your observation is two fold flawed
1) You cannot climb the pocket when your backup center and your guards suck, can you blame him for not stepping up into a pocket which does not exist?

2) Why chew out Garcia and Jones when for the most part when they simply lack the ability to block for various reasons, like a spare of the moment tirade is going to make them better?

But I would like Kyler to chew Christian Kirk's arse out for his drops because honestly, Kirk has been shielded more than any other player on this team from the fans to the media

Kyler was brutal that game. However, we still probably win or at least make it closer with any commitment to run the football. 4 times in the 1st half vs a team that got gashed by Denver. It was like he was afraid the game would be shortened too much.

Thats the only game I can complain about the play calling a bit though.

Denver can consistently run the football. Cardinals can't. They're running game is set up by the pass.

Nothing is wrong with Kyler Murray. Elite skills and only in his 3rd year.

We need to make it easier on ourselves which means running the ball more and not going downfield on 3rd/4th and short.

Anyone notice a trend here?

So he does a great job stepping up in the pocket? He doesn't miss wide open receivers? He doesn't often ignore wide open receivers when he needs to just pick up a first down? He always, or at least often, uplifts his team when there are injuries or when the team is trailing, rather than needing the talent around him to succeed? Elite skills does not equal an elite QB. He's top half of the league good, at this point, but nothing special. He has to work a hell of a lot harder and be able to excel when not in optimal circumstances to get better. Put him on GB, and that team would have tanked, too. He can't sniff Rodgers' jock strap right now.

And that's the key: RIGHT NOW. He CAN get better, if he wants it bad enough. He CAN get better and become an elite QB, if he puts the work in. Will he?

Agree with you - he can definitely get better but there is nothing WRONG with him.

He is developing and in his 3rd year. How many QB's have played better than him in their first 3 years (Elite stats, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and 2x Pro Bowler)?

Answer to your last question.. very few - especially if you factor in a team that picked in the top 5 w a depleted roster. Mahomes and Lamar saw near immediate success but they walked into loaded roster, playoff caliber teams with HOF Level coaches.

Some of that is because when you're behind you run less when you're ahead you run more.

But I do agree. Not having Conner last game I think had Kliff afraid of running on short yardage plays.

I remember that play as it happened and you can see why Kyler didn't throw it right away it's a pick play with Wesley and Kirk is open only because the pick works. The problem is at the point where the ball has to come out, it's apparent the pick worked and Kyler should throw it but he is looking downfield and by the time he decides not to throw that, someone has his leg and he can't get back to Kirk.

I would add the frustrating thing there is it's almost certain due to the pick that Kirk was the primary guy on that play and Kyler was trying to push it downfield when he should have just hit Kirk.

I wondered why they didn’t move in a TE or Fotu to act as a lead blocker, like a FB. Kingsbury only seems to like his own, non-traditional play designs.

What definition of wrong are we using? I think watching a player regress over the 2nd half of the season is concerning; it is the wrong trajectory you want for a young QB. I want him to always be getting better, and never getting worse. We saw amazing progression early in the year, but that accounts for little if it isn't a permanent gain. What we've been seeing out of him is very, very bad. I'd say that means there's something wrong, for certes.

The last 2 games have certainly been poor. I think the hope is that Hudson makes us go. His kryptonite is clearly interior pressure which leads to bad mechanics, predeterming throws, etc etc. At least the Rams game we moved the ball at will.. No Hudson and no Hopkins who constantly wins on the outside as a safety valve exposed all his flaws. However, if we stabilize the interior/we're not facing another Aaron Donald until maybe the playoffs/if that? we might be ok. Cowboys game will tell a lot.

Again.. every single bad game and loss that Kyler has had aside from the 1 Rams game - he did not have Hudson.

Every single bad game and loss Kyler has aside from the Rams game and a few snaps in the GB game - he did not have Hopkins***.

How is it hard to understand that these are not a coincidence? This offensive line is literally the bottom barrel of the league and arguably the worse in the league without Hudson. Couple that with not having one of the best WRs on the league and Kliffy as coach - give him a break.

You could put Mahomes on this team, a much better QB than Kyler today and I don’t believe you are having much more success based on those missing pieces and the lack of complimentary pieces. I feel this can be validated with even Mahomes lack of success in the Super Bowl after losing Fischer in the AFC ship and also their 2nd best Oline man at the time Mitchell Schwartz down the stretch… literally Mahomes looked like crap, put up 9 points and still had better active receiving weapons in the game. Also, not a coincidence they went out and upgraded their offensive line with TWO young studs in Orlando Brown via trade and Creed Humphries via draft.

Kyler is not without fault, but I don’t care how elite you are - you are not anything without an offensive line I. This league nowadays… but let’s keep tossing our franchise QB and our best chance at being relevant while not understanding the facts of what he is working with on the field.

Agreed but we handed the ball off 3 times in the first half vs the Lions. I think the Lions were 29th in rushing defense (something like that).

Not running the ball more and of course not hitting FG's/XP's cause you to lose one like that. Easily fixable but painful.
