Woodbridge 7, South Brunswick 5
WOODBRIDGE -- Madelyn Brenner spotted South Brunswick a five-run advantage in the first inning, then blanked the Vikings over the final six frames as Woodbridge rallied for a 7-5 GMC White Division triumph Thursday.Gia Allan went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two RBI, while Gia Pede also went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI to lead the 10th-ranked Barrons (2-0).Brooke Allen’s two-run single was the big hit as South Brunswick (1-1) dropped a five-spot in the first inning. Amanda Buttitta went 3-for-4 with a double for the Vikings.Pede’s two-run single led Woodbridge’s four-run response in the bottom of the first and Allen equalized with a solo shot to right center in the second. The pair delivered the go-ahead run in the fifth as Allan doubled and Pede followed with a single up the middle to put the Barrons on top for the first and last time.

Ridge 10, Bound Brook 0 (5 innings): Freshman Hailey Cuyun went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs, while senior catcher Kiersten Murray struck her 100th career hit, adding a walk, two runs and two RBIs and Ridge (2-0) rolled to the mercy rule-shortened win. Gabby Price pitched in two hits and two RBIs in the win, while Jackie Adler went the distance on the five-inning one-hitter, walking two and striking out six. Rachael Gurczeski singled for Bound Brook (0-2).

Governor Livingston 4, Westfield 0: Maggie Quinn fired a two-hit shutout, walked five and struck out seven, andLily Sandholm singled, homered and drove in two runs to fuel Governor Livingston (1-1). Ally Gardner, Hannah Belluche and Carly Pfeiffer picked up two hits apiece for the Highlanders, while Chelsea Kiesewetter singled, walked, scored a run and drove in another in the victory. Quinlan Doherty and Kayla Reyes each singled for Westfield (1-1).
Delaware Valley 2, Mount St. Mary 1: Grace Slack allowed just a run on two hits, walked five and struck out three and Delaware Valley erased a first-inning deficit with a run in the second and the winner in the fifth to improve to 2-0. Lindsey Ditmar singled and drove in a run for the Terriers, while Brooklyn Liskowacki notched a single, double and scored the tying run. Del Val got the winner on a pair of errors. Anna Ziccardi, who singled and drove in the lone run for Mount St. Mary (0-1), allowed just one earned run on six hits, walked two and struck out nine.
Pingry 11, Franklin 0 (6 innings): Freshman Gabby Gomez threw a six-inning no hitter in her varsity debut, walking one and striking out 10, and Pingry made it two straight over Franklin to start the season. Taylor Francis notched four hits, including a double and two triples, scored three runs and drove in four, while Genevieve Provence added three hits, including a double, and scored three runs for the Big Blue (2-0).
Scotch Plains-Fanwood 6, Cranford 5: Samantha Friscia cracked two home runs and Oliva DiSalvo launched another and Scotch Plains-Fanwood outslugged Cranford to move to 2-0. Lara Fox pitched in a single and two RBIs in the win, while Avery Klotz singled twice and drove in a run for the Raiders. DiSalvo allowed four earned runs on six hits, no walks and struck out seven, with three of those tallies coming in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run homer from Cranford’s Casey Coon.
Somerville 5, Rutgers Prep 1: Sarah Graber permitted no earned runs on just three hits, walked two and struck out 14, while Emily Smith picked up three hits and two RBIs and Somerville improved to 2-0. Anna DeCola notched a single, double, two runs and an RBI for the Pioneers, who also got a pair of doubles and a run scored from Kelsey Butler.Kait Dougherty singled and scored a run, allowing just four earned runs on 10 hits and a walk, striking out seven for Rutgers Prep (0-2).

WEDNESDAY, April 2
Edison 11, Carteret 1 (5 innings)
CARTERET -- Freshman Jenna Fugate tossed a five-inning three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk in her varsity debut as Edison opened its season with an 11-1 GMC Blue Division triumph over Carteret
The Eagles (1-0) broke the contest open with an eight-run barrage in the fourth inning as Callie DiBisceglie, another freshman, singled twice, scored twice and drove in two runs in the inning. Kaylin Kline doubled twice and scored twice while Kailyn Harkins, another freshman, contributed two hits to Edison’s 14-hit attack.
Carteret (0-2) reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth as Trinity Bernardino led off with a triple to left and scored on a squeeze bunt by Daniela Portillo. Erika Valdez had the other two hits for the Ramblers, both singles.

Delaware Valley 3, Bridgewater-Raritan 2 (9 innings): Sophomore Grace Slack led off the bottom of the ninth inning by depositing the second pitch she saw over the center-field fence and Delaware Valley completed its rally for the come-from-behind home victory in its opener.
Bridgewater-Raritan (1-1) took the early lead with two first-innings runs, as Amanda Ciser scored on a wild pitch and Angela Tremarco came home when Briana Cacchio got herself caught in a rundown.
Freshman Julia DeFrange delivered an RBI double in the fourth inning for the Terriers, before Slack singled in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
DeFrange finished 3-for-4 in her varsity debut as Slack earned the win, going the distance and allowing no earned runs on just five hits. Brynn Hawley allowed just three runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out four.
Highland Park 7, South River 5: Melissa Evans and Alexa Johler each singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in another, and Cora Cooper-Dale added two singles, a stolen base, a run and an RBI and Highland Park made it two straight to start its year. Lily Bullock pitched in two hits, two stolen bases and two runs for the Owls (2-0), while Cooper-Dale earned the win, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out six. Leigha Borusovic homered twice and drove in four runs, while Gabby Castelhano and Ashley Borusovic each notched three hits for the Rams (0-1).
North Hunterdon 16, Hillsborough 6 (6 innings): Samantha Dougherty went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, while Skylar Burr added two hits and three RBIs and North Hunterdon rolled in its opener. Katie Reed finished 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI for the Lions, Skye Cooke earned the win, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out nine. Kayla Chess singled, doubled and drove in a run, while Kallahan Lewis picked up two hits and an RBI for Hillsborough (0-1).
J.F. Kennedy 15, East Brunswick Magnet 4 (5 innings): Loreli Lorentzen collected four hits, including two home runs, and Isabella Aquino went 4-for-4 with a double and J.F. Kennedy rolled to 2-0. Mia Morales picked up three hits, including a triple and a homer and the Mustangs. Isabella Serronico totaled three hits, including a home run for East Brunswick Magnet (0-1).
South Amboy 12, Piscataway Magnet 0 (5 innings): Sophia Hernandez turned in a two-hit shutout, walking three and striking out 11 in five innings to send South Amboy to 2-0. Emma Kalantis drove in three runs in the win, while Hernandez collected three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Aailyah Lewis triples and Coral Aurich singled for the Raiders (0-2).
Noth Plainfield 24, Perth Amboy Magnet 2 (4 innings): Samantha Colon went 4-for-4 with a double, two home runs, four runs and six RBIs, while Chloe Rodriguez collected two singles, a triple, a homer and four runs scored to fuel North Plainfield (1-1). Jasani Vizcaino chipped in three hits, three runs and two RBIs for the Canucks. Yasmerlin Diaz singled and drove in a run for Perth Amboy Magnet (0-1).
Middlesex 17, Piscataway 2 (4 innings): Juliana Rosati went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs, while Mikayla Chomen added a single, triple, three runs and three RBIs to help propel Middlesex (2-0). Kylie Vitelli earned the four-inning win, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out four. Juliana Mena tripled, scored a run and drove in another for the Chiefs (0-2).
Dunellen 20, Somerset Tech 13: Gaelle Velez delivered three hits and three RBIs, while Alyssa Segura singled, doubled, walked twice, scored twice and drove in three runs and Dunellen moved to 1-1. Rose Ciccolella and Kaitlee Garcia each helped out with three hits and two RBIs for the Destroyers. Nina Ricci picked up three hits, including a double and triple, two runs and three RBIs for the Jags (1-1).
Timothy Christian 19, Mother Seton 9 (6 innings): Lacey King finished with three hits, two runs and three RBIs, while Holly Medina singled, walked four times, was hit by a pitch, scored four runs and drove in three for Timothy Christian (1-0). Amber Keane collected two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Megan Cunha homered for the Setters (0-2).
Belvidere 23, Manville 16: Kelly McLain singled, doubled and drove in five runs, while Samantha Hickey picked up four hits, including a triple, and scored six runs for Belvidere (1-0). Madyson Denker singled, homered, scored five times and drove in three runs in the win. Manville is 0-2.

TUESDAY, APRIL 1
SKYLAND CONFRENCE
Hunterdon Central 2, Immaculata 0 (8 innings): Senior right-hander Emily Van Cleef was absolutely dominant in the circle, firing a two-hit, eight-inning shutout, walking none and striking out a career-high 22 Tuesday, while also delivering the game-winning RBI hit in the top of eighth inning and Hunterdon Central scored a crucial Skyland Conference Delaware Division win, topping Immaculata at Diamond Nation.
The teams were scoreless through seven innings, as Immaculata freshman Maddie Falvey was also working on a gem. Grace Greisler reached on a one-out walk in the eighth inning and, after an out, Cassie Stallwood singled. Van Cleef followed with an RBI knock, plating Greisler and sending Stallwood to third, before Maitland Halsted singled home the insurance tally. Van Cleef then fanned the side in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.
Falvey finished allowing just two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out 11. Heather Ryden recorded both hits for the Spartans.

Bridgewater-Raritan 6, Bernards 1: Sophomore right-hander Brynn Hawley allowed just a run on one hit, walked four and struck out eight, while freshman Amanda Ciser turned heads in her varsity debut, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs and Bridgewater-Raritan rolled to the Skyland Conference Raritan Division victory. Jess Paxson doubled and homered in the win, while Evelyn Fresco also homered for the Panthers, knocking in two runs. Angela Tremarco pitched in three hits for BR. Brooke Helpinstill singled in Marley Beers in the third inning with the run for Bernards.
South Hunterdon 4, Voorhees 3: Sophomore Elsie Scheetz allowed just two earned runs on six hits and no walks, striking out nine, and Carin Gallagher singled and drove in two runs and South Hunterdon took early command of the Skyland Mountain race. Anika Balog homered for the Eagles, who also got two hits and a run from Erin O’Rourke. Charlotte Mosier notched three hits, a run and an RBI for Voorhees (0-1), while Ava Zielinskie allowed just two earned runs on six hits and two walks, fanning three.
Somerville 7, Rutgers Prep 1: Sarah Graber allowed just a run on seven hits and a walk, striking out 14, and Anna DeCola went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI to boost Somerville. Ella Schueler added three hits, a stolen base and an RBI, while Riley DeSarno added two hits and two stolen bases for the Pioneers. Gianna Bowman homered in the fifth inning for Rutgers Prep.
Gill St. Bernard’s 15, Montgomery 0 (4 innings): Samantha Kalinak went 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBIs and two stolen bases, while Isabella Mecca collected three hits, including a double, three runs, two RBIs, a walk and two steals to propel Gill St. Bernard’s (2-0). Ella Martinelli picked up two hits and three RBIs in the win, which was earned by four three-hit innings from Emily Titsworth, who walked one and struck out five. Connor Fogarty, Ryane Riddell and Stella Cunha each singled for Montgomery (0-1).
Warren Hills 7, Phillipsburg 4 (10 innings): Laney Adie singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in two, while Sienna Kachala singled and knocked in a pair and Warren Hills won a Skyland Raritan marathon. Adie allowed no earned runs on 10 hits, walked none and struck out 22 for the Blue Streaks. Ava Colontrelle finished 4-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI, while Kayla Melsky picked up three hits, including a double, for Phillipsburg.
Pingry 10, Franklin 5: Taylor Francis singled, tripled, stole a base, scored twice and drove in two runs, while Ella Royster went 3-for-3 with a triple, walk, two runs and an RBI and Pingry won its opener. Ellie Solomon finished with two hits and two RBIs in the win, while Casey McKeon helped her own cause with two hits and an RBI. McKeon allowed four earned runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out four. Victoria Gabryszewski went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs for Franklin, which also got two hits and two RBIs from Casey Gomez Miranda.
GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE
St. Thomas Aquinas 7, Monroe 0: Elizabeth Negron and Leanne Higgins combined on a five-hit shutout and Sophia Colucci went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs and St. Thomas posted the opening-day win. Negron allowed just three hits and a walk, striking out 10 over five innings. Higgins finished up with a pair of two-hit frames, walking three. Hailey Krainski pitched in two doubles and two RBIs for the Trojans. Briell Zarsky collected two hit for the Falcons.

East Brunswick 3, Colonia 0: Anabella Stagliano fired a five-hit shutout, walked none, hit a pair and struck out nine, and Christina Lee finished with three hits and a run to fuel East Brunswick. Isabella Warrington singled twice, scored a run and drove in another for the Bears, who also got two hits and an RBI from Makenna Gay. Mariella Spina picked up two this for the Patriots.
Old Bridge 11, Metuchen 4: Gianna Velez totaled two hits, a run and two RBIs, while Amanda Jupinka picked up a single, two walks, two runs and an RBI to help lead Old Bridge. Alexandria Hunt pitched in two hits and two runs in the win, while Gianna Lombardi allowed four runs on four hits and two walks, fanning three for the Knights. Eva Szap posted two hits, a run and an RBI, while Hannah Mindler doubled, walked and scored twice for the Bulldogs.
Woodbridge 12, Perth Amboy 2 (6 innings): Madelyn Brenner went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and three RBIs and Holly Casaliggi struck three doubles, scored three runs and drove in a pair to send Woodbridge. Kylie Rackett also picked up three hits, including a double, and scored three times for the Barrons, while Brenner earned the win, allowing no earned runs on six hits and striking out six. Gabriella Reyes singled and drove in two runs for Peth Amboy, while Izabella Pardo and Deith Luciano Urena each posted two hits for the Panthers.
South Brunswick 10, North Brunwick 4: Gianna Langomarsino went 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs and two RBIs, while Amanda Buttitta posted three hits and two RBIs to propel South Brunswick. Buttitta went the distance for the win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits, walking four and striking out 13. Julianna Williams singled, tripled and drove in two runs, while Gabriella Melendez pitched in two hits and two runs for the Raiders.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 9, Brearley 1: Olivia DiSalvo allowed just a run on three hits, walked one and struck out 11, and Emily Rood went 2-for-4 with a double, stolen base and three RBIs and Scotch Plains-Fanwood rolled in its opener. Samantha Friscia and Natalie DiFabrizio each picked up two hits and an RBI for the Raiders.
Westfield 21, Elizabeth 2 (5 innings): Natalie Ardente collected two doubles, a walk, a run and five RBIs, while Sophia Mattielli singled, tripled, scored three times and drove in five more runs and Westfield cruised to the opening-day win. Alex Laguna finished 3-for-3 with two walks, three runs and an RBI for the Blue Devils, while Ava Heuck earned the win, surrendering just two runs on five hits and a walk, fanning one.
Rahway 16, Roselle Catholic 1 (4 innings): Amanda Lebers went 4-for-4 with a double, triple and five RBIs and Emily Garcia notched three hits, two stolen bases, three runs and two RBIs to help fuel Rahway. Jaylynn Soto notched the win, allowing one earned run on two hits and five walks, striking out 11.
A.L. Johnson 14, Governor Livingston 3 (5 innings): Lily Sandholm tallied two hits, a run and an RBI, while Chelsea Kiesewetter notched two hits and a run, but Governor Livingston fell in its opener.
Summit 6, New Providence 5: Emma Peldunas and Carys Lee each singled, doubled and scored two runs, while Hailey Gaeta singled and drove in two runs for New Providence.

MONDAY, MARCH 31
Somerset Tech 14, North Plainfield 8
NORTH PLAINFIELD -- Nina Ricci tripled in three runs and scored on an infield error in the sixth inning as Somerset Tech rallied to regain the lead for good in a Greater Middlesex Conference Silver Division contest.
The Jaguars strung together six consecutive singles in scoring seven times in the second inning, with Delilah Bergman and Alyssa Schuster each contributing a two-run base hit. North Plainfield took a brief lead by scoring five runs in the fifth as Samantha Colon belted a three-run triple and scored on a single by Chloe Rodriguez.
Ricci went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for Somerset Tech and Sophie Konkle also went 3-for 5 and went the distance for the victory. Colon went 3-for-5 with four RBI for North Plainfield, which dropped from the GMC White Division to the Silver and has not won a divisional contest since joining the conference in 2023.

Highland Park 10, Woodbridge Magnet 9 (8 innings): Ava Kohler went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Melissa Evans notched two hits, a run and two RBIs and Highland Park responded to giving up two runs in the top of the eighth inning by notching three in the bottom of the frame and grab the opening-day win. Diana Richardson chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Owls, who scored a run in the bottom of the sixth and another in the bottom of the seventh to force extra frames. Nicole Chang picked up two hits and three RBIs, while Kiah Parekh added three hits, including a triple, and three runs for Woodbridge Magnet.
Middlesex 12, Carteret 2 (5 innings): Mikayla Chomen went 4-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs and three RBIs, and Bella Durkin singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Middlesex rolled. Julianna Rossi helped out with two hits, a walk, a run and an RBI for the Blue Jays. Kylie Vitelli picked up the five-inning win, allowed two runs on six hits no walks, striking out six. Daniela Portillo singled twice and drove in a run, while Jesse Sendatch triples and drove in a run for the Ramblers.

Kennedy 16, Piscataway 6 (5 innings): Courtney Paulikas finished with a single, double and home run, two runs and four RBIs, while Mia Moralez went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to power J.F. Kennedy. Lorelei Lorentzen pitched in three hits and three runs for the Mustangs, while Paulikas picked up the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks, striking out six in five innings. Marissa Mikita singled, walked twice and scored three runs for Piscataway, which also got a single and two RBIs from Samantha Venturi.
South Amboy 18, Mother Seton 4 (5 innings): Emma Kalantis doubled, homered, walked twice, scored twice and drove in three runs, while Sophie Hernandez went for three hits, including a double, two runs and two RBIs and South Amboy pounded out 18 hit to win its opener. Sarah McLaughlin also collected three hits in the win, including a triple, and scored three tuns, while Leangeliz Deleon notched three hits and two runs for the Guvs. Hernandez earned the win allowing four runs on two hits and five walks, fanning 11 in five innings.

Reagan Scalfani added two hits, a run and an RBI for the Knights, while Emily Titsworth went five innings for the win, allowing two earned runs on eight hits, walking none and striking out two. McKinley Weese went the final two frames, allowing no earned runs on one hit and a walk, fanning one.
FRIDAY, MARCH 28
Warren Tech 18, Manville 3 (5 innings): Hailey Lopez picked up two hits, including a double, and Sasha Cichon walked and drove in a run for Manville.
