You want him to tell people they are going to be fired in a press conference before he fires them? I don't think that is actually what you want him to do.Just give me some truth!
Well, the truth is there is just not much he could really say.Well, other than saying they're going to get more "grit" and "grind" he didn't propose much. Sounds like the exact same brain trust that created this problem is going to fix it... via grit.
Sounds like things are going to get worse.
No, not really, he is saying he is responsible for firing them, or keeping them. Here's what I don't like about what Ishbia had to say. By saying he doesn't get involved in basketball decisions in any way and is only there to facilitate their ideas, he's throwing his FO under the bus and taking no responsibility in spite of him saying he's ultimately accountable.
They are going to get worse, for one simple reason 70% of success in the NBA is the quality of your players. Our talent level is not very good, and our ability to improve is almost non existent because we traded all our picks away.Well, other than saying they're going to get more "grit" and "grind" he didn't propose much. Sounds like the exact same brain trust that created this problem is going to fix it... via grit.

THIS.Fire them before the conference? Take some accountability?
I think he's still taking advice from Isiah. This approach might have had a chance when Thomas was in New York but not under today's rules.Idiotshbia:
“It’s surprising to me that other people, other fans, they actually like the rebuild process,” Ishbia said, disdain dripping from his voice as the final word of that sentence comes out of his mouth. “Like, ‘Oh, let’s rebuild it.’ Are you crazy?! You think I’m going to go for seven years and try to get there? You enjoy the 2030 draft picks that we have holding? I want to try to see the game today. I want us to win today, and we’re going to try.
“Although let’s say this doesn’t work, guess what? Maybe next year we won’t be as good, but we’re going to try again. The next opportunity we have, we’re going to try to win and compete. And it will work. We will win championships here in Phoenix. Might not be this year, but I promise you we are going to do it. And that’s what we’re focused on.”

If he's like us, he's already gone through his anger phase. You can't stay angry forever. At some point, you have to pull your britches up and get to work.I would have preferred if Mat Ishbia had come across less upbeat.
The message was serious, but the tone didn't match.
I wanted him to express some anger.
Well, sure, and an upbeat boss can be a lot more motivating than the scream, yell, piss and moan type. And if he'd said the right things along with the positive attitude, that would be great. But what he said makes me believe he is either a total idiot or he's taking advice from one.If he's like us, he's already gone through his anger phase. You can't stay angry forever. Cheese quoted some of what concerns me in post #193 of this thread. Not the least of it was Ishbia's sarcastic comment that some fans just want to rebuild. It isn't that we WANT to rebuild, it's that we want a chance at a championship. And there is no way in hell that we are winning a championship trying to build on our nucleus without cap space or picks to fill out the roster. Even an idiot ought to know that. If having the least valued future draft situation was such a hot ticket, we wouldn't be the only one in this situation. How so?
