Darnell Dockett, DT, Arizona Cardinals
The focus of the Arizona defense is on the ends. That's understandable with Bert Berry coming off a Pro Bowl season and Chike Okeafor a high-dollar free agent with a relentless motor.
But the guy we think is going to be the best player on the line this season is Dockett, a second-year player from Florida State.
The Cardinals stole him when they took him in the third round of the 2004 draft. Dockett had first-round ability but slipped because of character questions.
As a rookie, he flashed that first-round ability, and the thinking this season is that the consistency shows up more.
Dockett isn't a huge tackle, but he's strong and quick. He can go down the line and make a play, or he can put pressure on the quarterback from the inside.
"I'm ready to take my game to the next level," Dockett said.
We'll see him in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl as he plays a large part in making the Arizona defense one of the best in the league.
