Thanks RD --- You have written what I have been waiting for several months to hear. I look forward to your continued reports. Some of us live by these.
Thanks for the update Harley. Obviously just the first day, but interesting to see BSP running the 2nd team. Hmmmmmm.....
I'll add my two cents.
Breaston looked to be heads above everyone in catching punts. Long was the only other guy that looked like he had a clue in this area. I was disapointed with Garvin in this area. He seemed unable to get a read on the punts and get himself in position to field them cleanly.
Will Davis surprised me with his size. I don't know how good a player he will be but he didn't look like a rookie. He is a man-sized-man and looked from a physical standpoint like a 3-4 year veteran.
They had the drill where the QBs drop back and threw it into a net with three pouches woven into the it. All the QBs did pretty well but Warner wowed the crowd by putting into one of the smaller pouches on every throw. His accuracy was amazing.
One other thing on Warner. Has he lost even more weight? If he didn't have the number 13 on his jersey I would have swore it was someone else. He is very lean and looked quicker. He was so lean he looked like a rookie QB because he was so skinny.
I agree on Jason Wright. Very stocky, very quick, sure hands, and looked like a veteran that was very comfortable with the team, like this was his second or third camp with the Cardinals instead of his first.
Becht surprised me with his mobility. I think I was expecting to see a guy that was a little more lumbering but he was quick and smooth with good hands for a guy with his size.
Speaking of TEs I was surprised to see Spach out there and moving as well as he did. He seemed to be fully recovered and looked good.
I also haven't seen him mentioned but I thought Dominique Byrd had a very good first practice. He was in a lot of packages including several special teams groupings. He was all over the place and looked good.
There is going to be a war for spots at the tight end position. Several solid Cardinal vets but they are being pushed by Becht and Byrd. This will be one position battle to watch.
I didn't attend the afternoon practice because I went golfing. I know, I know I'm a terrible fan. The way I golfed I should have just gone to practice. I will try to get up to Flag next week and get some more observations.
can you check out how Rashad Johnson and Greg Toler look?
