I co-sign this plan. Trade Kyler and get something for him--I'm looking at you, Vegas!--go D heavy in the draft and use FA to bolster your D moves and get some speed at WR, as well as stabilize the line. I see no reason why all of that can't happen. No guarantees it would all work out, but you have to at least try to improve.
I have no idea what the trade market might look like for Kyler. He is such a non-traditional QB that there will be teams that prefer signing Mac Jones to trading for Kyler.

The answer is honestly to dump Kyler, sign Darnold, and continue upgrading the roster. There is no reason to believe Darnold can't at least match Kyler's production this year. His contract is probably 3yrs, 120 mil (max). Maybe you can trade Kyler somewhere which would ease the contract sting.

Of the options that Darnold would have if he hit FA, have to think the Cardinals look like one of the more competitive opportunities. if the Cardinals decide to draft a QB in the near future, they have the cap space to move n from Darnold.

That would be the boldest move Bidwill has ever made. So, no chance IMO.

I think you are underestimating the contract Darnold will get as well. I expect the Giants will give him a monster contract. I also would not be shocked to see the Vikings keep him.

Giants are in line to draft Sanders or Ward at #1. Why would they give Darnold a monster contract?

Agreed. Also, Darnold gets to decide where he wants to go. He has done the playing for an awful franchise thing before and he has money. While I am not saying I think he would turn 10 mil more per year to play for a non-awful team, I don't think teams are going to spend 50 mil on him. People are seeing what it looks like when you spend 45 mil on Cousins. Darnold is not that, but I do think 40 mil is probably the top end of his market.

* Generate pressure: Utilize a variety of pass-rushing techniques to disrupt opposing quarterbacks.
* Special Teams Excellence:
* Field position: Utilize special teams to gain a field position advantage.

* Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize advanced analytics to inform personnel decisions, game planning, and player development.
5. Long-Term Vision
* Sustained Success: Establish a culture of winning that extends beyond a single season.

Because both of those guys suck as prospects. Neither one of them would've cracked the top 5 QBs last year.

Although, QB being the position it is, some team will talk themselves into thinking they are that good. Trey Lance and Anthony Richardson went crazy high so these kids will as well.

GMs don’t see it way(and I absolutely believe Sanders and Ward would have gone before Nix and arguably Penix).

Regardless how you personally feel about them, it makes no sense for the Giants to award Donald a huge contract when they will most likely be awarded the #1 overall pick.

I think Darnold is helped drastically with talent. His lack of mobility might be a liability here.
Say that the Vikings go far this season. What do they do with Darnold? Can they really move on from a quarterback that has taken them to, for example, the NFC Championship game?

And in that regard, would you sell Murray for a first round pick (plus more), and then buy J.J. McCarthy for a first round pick?

This is all great on paper Ron but really? AI doesn't know that this is the Arizona Cardinals we're talking about. If this team did half of this right, I think we'd all keel over due to cardiac arrest.

I admit I have no idea how the Giants are thinking. It just seems they might want to win now rather than take years with a rookie. Sanders is the second best player on his own team.

Dude… no one is giving up a 1st round pick for Murray, much less a 1st rounder PLUS more.

They will. Just ask for a 2026 pick. General rule of thumb is each year in the future devalued the pick one round.
So ask for a 2026 first and a 2025 third...basically a 2 and a 3 ...that's cheap if a team thinks the lowly cardinals have misused him

I will just quote myself from another thread:

"I mentioned in another post how Bill Walsh has a theory that you should judge a player by his highest level, and then trust that the teams’ coaches can get that play out of him consistently. Are you really telling me that no team wants Kyler Murray’s highs week in and week out? Because someone is certain to think that they can get that. And are you telling me that no one thinks they can do better than the Cards, who are consistently among the bottom half of the NFL?

Not to forget that someone will lose out on the two-three acceptable options in the draft and free agency. Are the Titans entering the season with Will Levis? Are New Orleans again going to tell their fans that Derek Carr is the answer? The entire new brain trust with the Jets. Will they try to convince everyone that a washed up Aaron Rodgers or Tyrod Taylor will lead them to the playoffs after eight losing seasons in a row?

Then there is the – to me – strange belief that every team, that can realistically get the #1 pick, will fall in love with either Cam Ward or Sheduer Sanders. That there is no world where they are not convinced that either is the right guy. That they must take a quarterback. Say that Joe Schoen with the Giants are enamored with Kyler Murray, and don’t have strong conviction of any of the rookies. Are you truly suggesting to go with the rookie anyway instead of doing what you believe is best for the organization?

I am sorry. I guess that we will just have to agree to disagree that Kyler Murray has no believers out there."

Sage words my friend, ty. The entire Murray saga has been really unique for me in terms of my lifelong Cardinals fandom. Skewed it in some weird ways.

But anyway.

Wishing you and your fam the very best this holiday season ouchie. Take care man! :)
You as well, buddy! Hope y’all have nothing but happiness, love, and laughter!

(In other words, don’t watch anymore cardinals games)

PS - I won’t take my own advice . . . about not watching

I’d stop watching this team entirely if Rodgers’ corpse became our QB.
No you wouldn’t. We would be watching like buddy Ryan’s last season. Rooting for every loss to get the front office and everyone else canned.

In other words even AI can’t come up with a realistic plan to fix the cardinals. I’m somewhat surprised it didn’t answer: “Fold the team and let the terminator do his job on the bidwill family.”

Be realistic with yourself then be honest with me.

Holding the #1 pick in the draft, do you really think they’re going forgo a QB then signed Sam Darnold to a big contract?
